Why are you avoiding one of the most widely used, versatile chamberings? That really doesn’t make much sense - there are high numbers of rifles available in Creedmoors, lots of ammunition and components available and you can load anything from 95 to 156gr meaning it’s in 30-06 territory and will drop anything in the U.K. with authority and be ballistically superior to many “traditional” chamberings at longer ranges.

To avoid it would be foolish and akin to not touching your mate as another one of your mates shouted “jaundice”…..

Sounds like you want a Swede. Of course the CM is a great choice but if you really want a Swede then get one. I have a Swede and a 30-06 and I love both but I almost always reach for the Swede first. Just nicer to shoot and more than adequate for everything in UK including red stags. Sako blades 120 readily available where i am

Tikka now do their .243 in 1 in 8 twist, suitable for copper. Ideal for Roe and fallow does and cheap to run with factory ammunition.

I may have to spend some cash fo personal use.
But l love my M77.

Restricted to all copper I’d go 6.5PRC or 25-06. The problem with PRC here in the states is that Hornady is the big dog ammo wise and when they can’t get the good powder they use something else and velocity suffers along with sd. Nobody wants a PRC that’s 75fps faster than a 6.5C but it’s happened in the past.
