fac application

The wait times are ridiculous and a complete lottery.

We need a properly resourced national licencing authority. Have just sent my application in with 3 months of club probation to go so should be a full member when they get round to doing anything with it.

Have held my SGC for 40 years - does this count for anything in the FAC application process?

From submitting application to receiving grants took me 4 weeks total!!! New grant as well and applied for .308 and shotgun. Ian from Kent was brilliant in support and dealing with everything! Expected to wait months.
3 weeks since submitting my application in Cambridgeshire, I guess I better cross my fingers and hope for a miracle too.

I have my visit this week, about four weeks after application for first grant. Also in cambs.

Hi TTT, that's excellent, I am now hoping its the same time scale for me. What did you ask for? I have asked for a .223 and .308. Also, have you managed to go out on a stalk?

My SGC term was mentioned and that I hadn't had any complaints so assume they do take it into some sort of considerations to the extent of you being trusted to have some form restricted item

Hi T.eddie, that's good to know. What was your SGC term when applying for the FAC? Mine is coming up to two years now.

good evening all i have applied for my fac for a 22 and 17-hmr i have had the cabinet checks and interviews and already hold a shotgun certificate and so far i am on day 125 i am in Somerset... has anyone else had it quicker and is anyone else having the same problem
thanks
That sound exsessive. In London, whilst it took almost a year to get the interivew (COVID played its part with a massive backlog), I have the Cert within 2 weeks of the interview. As other have suggested, a polite email and phone call may be in order in case its have fallen through the administrative cracks.

I believe it does help to have the sgc as you've jumped through the larger majority of checks they have to do.
I have just got my fac and it's taken it's time. Phoned them up and asked how things are going and said I have my sgc and it sped up alot.

Nope. They will re-do the enquiries that you had to do to get your shotgun cert and the extra ones for the firearms cert. The only time they will combine those enquiries is when you are getting/renewing a coterminous certificate. Hence the saving price-wise.

They won't issue your firearms certificate on enquiries they did anything up to 5 years ago. If your circumstances have changed and something terrible happens and they had the chance to check but didn't before giving you firearms, you could imagine the amount of poo hitting the fan!

That's fair enough

Just passing on info I had from my department but it was coterminous. And it was less than 4 years since getting my sgc
