FAC Referee - Best ever.

I recently had the privilege of meeting an elderly gentlemen, who has had (and continues to have) an amazing life.

He recounted the tale of being contacted by his FLM, who having received his referee's letters, broke with established protocol to phone him, and read it out to him over the phone.

"I have known Mr. XXX for over 30 years. He is a safe and competent shot, both on and off the battlefield".

Needless to say, he got his FAC.

An old friend of mine was having some difficulty when renewing his FAC and SGC some years ago. For some reason unknown to him they didn't like one referee so he put down the recently retired ex- Chief Constable as a referee as he knew him, both their wives were close friends and attended the W.I. together. Unsurprisingly his renewed certificates arrived through the door a few days later.
