Ok so I have a section 1 FAC shotgun, can I put the 3 shot tube back in and send if for the variation to have it take of section 1 and place on to shotgun cert ???

Hope all that makes sense ?

I had one but they aren't allowed in Ireland so sold it when moving over, as you say - more effort than its worth

Yer if IV got to send it off to be reported just because IV put the old tube back in, properly cost me more to get it proofed than what the guns worth lol

Yes Grandad you can. It remains S.1 until a proof house marks it as restricted by a recognised method. It is then S.2 .
Tube magazine shotguns can go from S.1 to S.2 and back again as many times as you like .

I would imagine it cost a penny or two to send of and get proofed

There would certainly be a cost. Is it worth it? Only you can answer that. It costs nothing to ask around for a quote. You cannot send the gun yourself it would have to go via a RFD. You can take it in person though or at least you could the last time I looked into it.

Meh it's only hatsan escort was like £300 brand new lol what make some laugh tho so I screw in the new tube and it goes and gets "re-proofed" and yet soon as it turns up at my door again in less the 5mins I could literally just screw in the extended mag again lol (of course this would be illegal and obviously would not )

That's why I mentioned recognised method. There is a Home Office document that tells us what those methods are. Pinning, welding brazing super dooper loctite etc. The proof house will check that the job has been done to the spec or they will not stamp the gun or issue a restriction certificate. I think the words used in the spec are something like " not easily removed using hand tools"
It's all online somewhere
And it won't turn up at your door it would have to be sent to a RFD from where you collect it. More cost but that's how it is done

That is funny cos when buying the gun brand new you can just unscrew it lo but if that's how has to be done I don't think I'll bother. Seem to mush hassel lol

Not worth it
Ball ache
Fraught with issues

Sell it
Buy a Section 2….

Or for the value
Just keep it!!

You can always just run it as a short tube shotgun and leave it on the FAC

Its on there
What is the motivation to remove it?
