Fatal accident in Catalonia wild boar

We've had the same happen in this country. On one occasion a few years ago a chap driving along the M4 in Wiltshire collided with a wild boar and was killed in the collision. On another occasion one of the site members driving through the forest of Dean collided with a boar, he was slightly more fortunate but was very seriously injured in the collision.

Well, we had (2024) 9400 reported boar/traffic incidents here in Sweden. Most of them not severe but some were when motorcyclists drive fast in summer nights. Rule nr 1: if you see one there will more about. Usually the last in the group will be hit.
The estimated annual figure in France is 20-30,000

How is Tusk the pup coming on?
Slowly! He will be 3 in April and I love him to bits BUT as soon as I take him away from home he is scared of everything and everyone. It really is hard to walk with him in town, if someone approaches us on the pavement, he pulls to go in the road. He is slightly better, but I think he has this for life. Shame.

Also still peeing in the house. Not as much as before, but a few days ago he went all around the house marking all over the place, not sure if it is a spring thing. I threw him out for 11 hours after that.

I know when he's done it, he takes on a guilty stance and gives it away, so he must know.

Barking is better, he has learnt not to bark at my neighbour and that he can bark as much as he likes over the other side of the garden. He runs up there several times a night barking at generally nothing, but from time to time I'm sure there are boar about.

So there you go, hard work, but I love the little sod!20251126_220337.webp

RIP to the people who lost their lives, in these incidents :(

But do we know if they tried to sverve to take evasive action and then crashed, or if they hit the animal straight on, and the injuries primarily came from there, or directly derived from there?

I heard a guy once say, that if you get surprised by a (smaller) deer on the road at night, and you're not on a road that will permit safe large manouvering at speed, dont sverve but take the impact with the deer, as the risk of larger damage to both car and driver is often greater when people try to take an instinctive split second but often uncontrolled evasive action, and then crash into a tree or straight into a ditch, or into a road barrier and flip the car etc.
