Favourite bullets and why?

Not got a favourite deer bullet but used to love 52gn fowlers thru my 22.250 ackley unbelievable performance on foxes 😀
Don’t think there still going tho

How many deer did you shoot with the game changers?
15 or 20, mostly muntjac but some roe. One or two were ok if I’d not hit a rib full on, but all of those with bone strikes (rib or shoulder) had disproportionately large amounts of shot damage.
I was using the 125gr ones, which may go some way towards explaining why they were a bit more potent than expected (they did pretty much chop a fox in half too).

I'm curious about those 123s. I was in my local RFD getting some 150gr Super Hammer Heads and the guy in the shop said he had the 123s that seem to be in high demand.

I have heard that they're flat shooting but can be explosive too
I gave up on them (in factory loads) after they blew up on a couple fallow shoulders.

Fantastic for neck shooting, and pole axed roe, but very explosive at short range.

Are you talking about the tipped game kings or softpoints?

Soft point boat tail gamekings. RE SST's, it's not heavier weight that matters as much as lower velocity. Like a lot of tipped hunting rounds, they can be quite explosive at close range driven hard. In 6.5, my load is around 2550 to 2600fps, which at 200 yds won't result in excessive meat damage but they do expand very readily and reliably for a devastating would channel. Close up probably better to avoid shoulder shots and go for neck shots or HILAR placement.

Sako 123 grn in.308. Been mentioned by a few lads already. Best round I’ve found that my old Mauser likes. It is fairly flat, very accurate in my opinion, I could fit a 3 round check group under my thumbnail at 100 metres. I had some time one day to check different ranges and the rifle/cartridge combination would get into a 6” circle at 300 m. Good stuff for factory ammo. I was stalking one day in the winter and the stalker and I came across some hinds in the distance one of which was 3 legged and having a job moving, he ordered me down to get off a snap shot, on the belt buckle with rifle supported by binos and a shot was taken. The deer went down on the deck. 313 metres. That sells me my Sako 123 grn forever. I also use 50 grn soft points for .223 mannlicher. That is also a fine round that suits my rifle. Tried a couple of other makes but it’s Sako for me.

I would like to get hold of some more 63gr Sierra Varminters. I have some 62gr Nosler BTs and some Berger 64gr FB Varmint that I would swap 1-4-1.
Would also like to find some 80gr A-Max.
All in ,224!

For my 243, favourite bullet was 105gr Amax. Accurate and deadly. Now use 70gr blitz king as only shooting foxes, it’s a fantastic bullet. Tried other 70 gr bullets but they didn’t perform as well.

I’ve used federal powershok 130gr for my .270 which I’ve had great results with to date, but this will be my last box before switching to non-lead. I’ve picked up some fox bullets also in 130gr from Ed Bewsher and hoping to have similar success with them.
