No....thats the point is it not? It'll work within the confines of ONLY modern chambering? SAMMI and all that good stuff. Its going to make my .270 SING!
Is that your final answer?
You’re sure about that?

You might want to check with the manufacturer, they’re all set to launch.
They’d love to know how they got it so wrong.

Smelly is absolutely correct, you’re bonkers if you believe that a 0.25mm thickness open ended steel tube is going to contain 20k PSI!
Why do you think the 6.8x51mm US NGSW uses a hybrid case with a steel head? It’s because brass will yield at 4500+ bar limiting the maximum pressure.
It would be interesting to see how much pressure margin is built into a SAMMI / CIP 6.5mm creedmoor bolt and action?
I’ve not studied the NGSW XM7 bolt in detail however I spotted a picture of it the other day and it looked particularly beefy, certainly more so than a standard long action rotating bolt.
I understand this bit…..You don't even understand what you just read![]()

As I understand it, Federal will need to recieve CIP approval before it can be sold in CIP member states, including the UK. There’s nothing from Federal to suggest it plans to seek CIP approval.
You shifted the narrative.I understand this bit…..

So Federal are going to knowingly produce high pressure ammunition that will chamber and fire in any rifle with the same cartridge designation and it will not be safe?
I don’t believe you.

Would be interesting to know how many of them wear proper ballistic eyewear. So, this is coming off the back of the 7mm Backcountry - a new cartridge designed for 80k psi use, Who’s intended use is to get long barrel performance out of a 16” barrel with moderator. But they have had a lot of teething problems. The main issue is the increased pressure is playing havoc with accuracy - rifles chambered in it are very hard to get shooting small groups. They think it’s the high muzzle pressure upsetting traditional bullets. There have also been chamber tolerance issues, extraction issues, needing extremely expensive reloading tools (yes it’s possible) and only some actions are recommended for it. It’s new territory, probably in 10 or more years it’ll be more user friendly but currently the pros are dwarfed by a multitude of cons.
In the meantime it’s actually pretty common nowadays (as in, not unheard of) to reload traditional brass cartridges up to 80k psi, accepting poor brass life and being careful which action is used. I would not do it, but that doesn’t change the fact the blokes doing it have shot huge amounts with no concerns. Some of the issues carry through, but overall it’s a much simpler and more well charted area.
Its not a new thing , it goes back many years longer than any of us . Fancy to guess once the not very forgiving steel blows up with your mush a few inches from your face ? We don't need faster , most shooters cannot even shoot 300 yards with a brisk wind .Wouldn't have thought you were aflag waver

If the steel case was going to do the job on its own there would be no need for caveats.I understand this bit…..

Yes, being an "early adopter" can have minor drawbacks! It's being offered for sale in the US with various loads at a cost from $45 - $58 a box of 20 rounds. Not sure I'm brave enough to dip my toe in that water to give it a try, I've always been taught and told to be very careful about over pressure loads!
