Field Trials Manual

A few years ago someone on here suggested to get a field trials puppy manual.

The title was something like. How to train your puppy to lv1 field trials standard. It cost about £10 and was an a4 print ringbone.

Anyway, I have the manual to my parents a few months maybe a year ago before they got their new flat coat. They’ve since lost it (already) and now with an 11 week old puppy running circles round them I’m looking to find another.

So SD does anyone know the manual I’m talking about? And the website to buy another copy.?

As someone owned by a flatty, It probably ate it :) can't help with what the book was though I'm afraid.

That said, concentrate on and drum in the basics. Sit, here, heel. Fatties get bored very easily and will "self reward"

Easier said than done I’m afraid. It’s why I’m trying to find a manual they can both follow to the letter, otherwise they won’t have the consistency required.
It’s their 3rd flatty, and they arnt looking to work it, but I foresee it becoming my flatty when it gets too much for them so I’m determined it has a basis to work off

Found it and have then found the link as well

Glad you've found the book matey.
I'm no retriever man but the thing I've found having read many HPR books is they all seem to be the same script more or less so they're all much of a muchness.
Secondly they don't really say what to do when the dog doesn't follow said script.
I'd advocate finding a trainer who has achieved in trials with your breed and attending a lesson or two.
All the best with the pup.
Jimmy.

I agree, but not my pup, it’s my parents.
And I know they need something written down otherwise the inconsistencies will be rife. Also having had a look I can’t find a single gun dog trainer near Dartmouth for them
