Fierce Firearms. Anyone got one?

I’m looking to buy a new rifle and have always been a Sako man but, having had a duff 85 (dovetail wasn’t machined properly and the scope kept moving) and the new 90 being so expensive, I’m wondering if I should just pay that little bit extra and buy a fierce rifle?

I’m not really interested in the carbon wrapped barrels or the titanium actions but I like the Sako 85 style functions. I really liked the controlled round. The 90 just pings brass all over the shop by the look of it.

Anyone had one? Any problems with it? Does it shoot?

I could very well be wrong, but I think some of the smiths on here have commented about a problem with them. Maybe it was @Ronin . I could be wrong, apologies for the tag if so

I had a Fierce rifle a few years back and was "quite disappointed" with it. The stock dimensions seemed all wrong (I'd say I'm of very average build), making recoil snappy; I couldn't get the trigger to the desired weight and crispness; and the overall standard of finish seemed minimal given the price point. I didn't keep it. They may well have raised their game since then, but before ordering one, I would get hands-on and take a very close look.

Sure you could put a premium barrel on an older Sako action ?
I likely will by the replies here. I did have a Sako 85 with a McMillan stock and a GB barrel on it once over which I completely regret selling. Trouble is, I’d prefer the control offered by the 85 and decent hunter style stocks are like hens teeth to find for them.

Seen the range of stocks Edinburgh Rifles recently advertised on here, inletting for lots of Sako actions as well as the lovely older Tikkas ?

No mate, you are correct. That was my thread, and as general there is very mixed reviews on them enough to keep a working man off.

There are some horror stories if you search over the water on them !

Why even take the chance?

There’s zero justification to buy one when you have companies like Seekins that are cheaper, better quality, and will go out of their way to make sure customers are happy.

Roll the dice on them whether you will have a shooter or a boat anchor. They do not have a good reputation. I may or may not be getting calls to fix them on a (slight exaggeration but not really) weekly basis......... If they were half the price I's still buy a Tikka over one. Some people do get lucky and end up with a shooter.....

I think it’ll be a semi custom 85 then. So pleased I asked!

Warranty issues with rifles are a pain in the arse when we have to have variations when it goes wrong. I bought a tikka super varmint during Covid as a bit of a socially distanced thing. Didn’t realise until I got it home (2 hr drive) that it was left handed! The variation after that was the one that I bought the brand new Sako 85 with that had to go back because the scope was moving on that stupid dovetail thing. Nightmares. Three variations in a row.

this is my feirce reaper, 28 nosler, shoots half moa no problem, I kind of regret getting a chassis gun though, might end up putting a pse stock on it
