Evening all, about to buy a new rifle and narrowed to these three please share your direct experience with either one . Chambering is 7mm-08
1. Fierce edge
2. Weatherby mark V live wild
3. Tikka t3x veil wideband
I had my mind really mixed up now and don't want to make wrong decision as this will be long term keeping

Thanks

The fierce edge is £3700. Quite a lot more than the other 2.

I’ll be honest I would buy a Sako 90 over them all.

Clearly you don’t want to be messing about with upgrades. Buy what you want outset.
Forgot to mention Fierce is used at a good price, same as the other two brand new

Don’t touch the Fierce. Have had a couple in with issues and the quality is dire. For example, they don’t machine the rear contact area of the floorplate at the correct angle so the floorplate is bent and under tension when the action screws are tightened. Twin ejectors jam up and because they don’t get removed for proof cause a scratch down the right hand side of the chamber when the rifle is gauged. There is a reason it’s cheap - they want shot of it. Get theT3

Hi dasherman, thanks for pointing this issue. Do you speak about the "edge" model made in Canada or they were the models made in Utah?

I have a Tikka Wideland Veil in .308. I bought it as an economical compromise of a lightweight.308 and I love it to bits. However, take a read of my post here:

It’s a bit of a first-world problem: it doesn’t affect the functionality of the rifle and isn’t visible with the bolt fitted but I know that the unsightly “damage” is there and that does colour my views on its ownership.

You mentioned the rifle was being returned to GMK for their opinion - what was the outcome?

Any paint in such contact location is going to wear. Like you have identified it’s not visible in normal use.

Even my AI has wear in the ceracoat where the cases eject and hit the action. This is on the outside of the action and visible. I wear it as a badge of honour. The rifle gets used 😁

To the OP, listen to Dasherman, he doesn’t post often but when he does he does for a reason. He is a very well respected rifle builder.

It must be poor ceracoating process from Tikka. Handled exactly the same rifle and calibre brand new at local gun shop and first thing noticed was faded spots of ceracoating along the barrel like a stains. That's why my other two tikkas are plain stainless steel

A very unsatisfactory one from GMK and cynically, I do doubt whether it was actually referred to Sako especially given the limited age/use.

Tikka T3X Cerakote Reply.webp

And that was that!

Besides the Cerakote in the receiver, I really do rate the rifle especially at the price point!
