Fine buck this morning

Wide awake at 0200 so went a run with a part charged thermal and fully charged rifle.
Done the first hour just seeing how many were out and then daylight coming in I decided to wait and see what the perpetrator of all the roadside scrapes looked like.
The light revealed a fine old beast and with him in heavy cover it took a good hour of frustration before he was shootable and a pill to the neck dropped him.
Plenty length and good weight all the way up the beams.

Def age for going back and wouldn’t be surprised if he has a wee bit this year.
Not one I’ve knowingly seen before this season but have seen him since in velvet and a pretty hard lad to connect with,usually just a head popping up in the barley mostly.

Teeth were down but still in good nick.
They were not going to be an issue for a while yet.

Nice buck for sure , thing is guessing what scores and what does not is in the hands of the measurer . A good buck is still a good buck though no matter what score it makes right ?!

Absolutely,and 90% sure it’s silver at least.

I had one measured at the stalking show , most said " Silver or could just go gold " It was just under making Bronze - it remains a good head and it will carry memories just as much as any Gold medal . The hardest bit about trophy hunting for me they all tell a story and makes a memory into the days when we have had to pack in .

What was the weight of this one that went under bronze for interest?
Think that’s the issue with asking “most” people as most in general are pretty clueless when it comes to scoring.
Score every one of mine prior so know within a few points of what it’s going to make.
