Absolutely it wouldn't. However, even if it had been on a S1 air rifle I'd suggest that it would need to be 'on certificate' only when actually attached to that S1 air-rifle.

While I think the whole moderator licensing is farce I cant see how any moderator suitable for anything bigger than a 22lr can't be classed as a firearm. The firearms act states "any accessory designed or adapted to diminish the noise or flash caused by firing the weapon" (weapon being in this instance anything producing over one joule of energy). Therefore surely any moderator designed with the structural integrity to withstand the pressure from anything above an air rifle should be classed as a firearm in it's own right?

To use with a 9mm garden gun on a Sec. 2 ticket. Or a .25 cal air rifle. or a .410 shotgun...

The whole Act needs rewritten. We should have (IMO) Regional offices of a National Agency taken out of local Constabulary remit. The police dont want it-its expensive and costly in manpower.

A better system is like that found in (to the best of my knowledge - according to separate friends who moved to Norway and NZ) Nordics / NZ where YOU are licensed not the gun and you can have what you want within the classification.

Changes here might mean possibly with a maximum of say 8 firearms in total or in a particular class (Id be buggered on this point). Say A-shotguns B Bolt action rifles C Semi-autos D Collectors E Pistols (civilised).

Email changes by both seller and buyer. 1 for 1 easy. Cabinet is inspected and security stickered. Magazines, suppressors etc not considered firearms. Ammunition is limited by safe storage. Spare barrels permitted as they are only ‘dangerous’ when fitted.

Any hint of drink driving, antisocial behaviour, threatening behaviour, alcohol or drug abuse or domestic violence and you lose your guns.
