did my first ever load testing today for my 22,250
i made up 3 of every charge weight started at 37grains and worked up in 2 grain increments to 39 grains
did the Dan Newbury method [OPTIMAL CHARGE WEIGHT]
i let the barrel cool between each shot and shot them from a clean barrel in a round robin style
i was very suprized as ALL the loads grouped better than my factory loads:)
but ive gone for 38.8 grains, sub half inch group at 100yds ,in a ruger M77mk11 thin sporter barrel with forend pressure
i carnt ask for more BUT i may play about with seating depth ,10tho of the lands at the mo

38.8gr H4350
CCI BR-2 primers
lapua cases
sierra gameking 55gr spitzers boat tail

i think ime hooked on reloading ,carnt wait for my 6.5x55 to be finished:-D

Well done, but can I make 2 suggestions.

1 load your 39grn load again but 4 rounds this time and try it. I may be wrong but youve 2 almost touching and anothet a bit away. You may have not been quite on the money with that shot.

2 Dont play with your seating depth everything is looking good and your onto a winner.

Totally agree,do your 39 again and try again,as said leave your seating depth alone bud,

Heres a 4 shot group from yesterday. Just to let you see why.

Its 20mm from the furthest edge to edge.

Ive a firedot reticle which almost covers the full bull at 100yds.

Hi may i ask how you ended up on that powder or is it typing error ?. Varget or H4895 is the top powders for 55g in the 22-250 in form of performance & velocity etc. I use Varget at 36,3g for 55g nosler with fed match or cci- br & get less than .5 MOA for 5 shots.

Try NOT cleaning it between shots and see what happens.

This was after 20 shots with a Hart-barreled Howa .223 at 100M my average from 5, five shot groups was .48 inches. Hate cleaning. Hate clean rifle barrels......~Muir

hi v-max the reason ive gone for H4350 is ime going to use this same powder for reloading my 6.5x55, so as ime new to reloading i didnt want to
get powders mixed up, and the hodgdon website says this powder can be used in the 22,250 ,i never take shots over 250yds on charlie so this should do
the job ,thanks for your input v-max
