After tripping over Does for months now, I finally get the opportunity to wander out for a 'sit up'. As it is now the Doe season, you know and I know that they will be elsewhere. They always are.
The Landy is due her MOT tomorrow, but before she goes in for that, she has to go in for some heavy duty TLC.
I am Loading for a friend tomorrow on a posh Shoot, so Mrs62 and my friend's wife, will take the 110 off to the man with the 'magic touch' and see if he can do his thing. I suspect most on here will know of a man in Essex who could probably have done it...
Anyhoo.
Other than the deer tray, I have emptied the truck in preparation - the shite that was in the back of the truck has filled the garage. Literally filled it.
So I scoot off in a near 'naked', truck and wonder if this will be her last outing with me. We have been together for over twenty years and we have had a ball. I wonder if it's time?
0530 hours finds me sat sitting in a tree. It is not too cold, not too windy, but the ground is sodden and badly churned up. I am glad I parked the old girl the other side of the gate.
As always, I break out the TI to see what is about. I see Badgers, Hares, ?Muntjac and a variety of roosting birds. I think I have taken photographs of these images on the TI, but have absolutely no idea how to view, send or share them.
So, to bring the story to 'life' I have drawn what I saw...

One Badger wanders in almost to the base of my seat, before they sensed me. He /she then took off at an impressive rate of knots to the other side of the fields. When it became a bit lighter, I was able to see the track they had made, on their way to my seat...

Then the marvels of modern technology.
Whilst I am sat in a tree in the Home Counties, I am messaging another SD member; who is currently in Scandinavia. We are arranging how he can buy some cigars for me in Dubai. Absolute nuts.
I spend a few minutes of my life wondering why my 'facial recognition' is not working on my phone. Then the penny drops...

FFS!
Back on task.
At about 0730 hours, a Roe runs (runs) from my left across my view of view and into a copse. She does not stop and she disappears into the trees.
About twenty minutes later, and she pops out of the far end of the copse (130 yards). It is nice and light now, she is calm and I am settled.
She reacts well to the shot, and I find her about ten yards back into the copse. I carry her, and the kit, back to the truck and field gralloch off the back of the 110.
Note the yellow chalk marks on the back of the Landy - picked up by the pre-MOT check...

Carcass is nice and clean. I did notice one tic on the inner thigh of the best, but she was in good condition.

Time for a celebratory cigar now...if only I had one.
