Well rather happy with myself having returned to Australia from the land of the long white clouds, New Zealand.
I was fortunate enough to win a Red Stag guided hunt in the Glenorchy, Otago region, the guide was Ethan owner operator of Top Of The Lake Guiding, great bloke who helped me out.
Got me onto several stags that we looked at before deciding to come back for the one we did. About 8 years old and 35" he is pretty heavy and a 9 pointer (4x5), there were a couple of younger 12 pts (6x6) but clearly lighter younger animals.
Borrowed Ethan's Hardy Project X chambered in 28 Nosler expecting a longer shot and winded up finding him at 95 yards.
Great bloke to hunt with and an amazing place, what more could you ask for? Planning for a 2028 rut hunt.....
