First rifle - Sako 75!

I have had sako 75s since circa 2007, i had a brand new finnlight in .308 (sweet lord I should never of parted with it) and a 25-06 finnlight, which is now a 6.5x55 semi custom. Bomb proof actions, excellent barrels, crisp sporting triggers. One of the best features is the box mag, easy to top feed whilst culling numbers, mine wears a wee canvas 2 round holder for this purpose. Great choice, good luck in your stalking.

A very practical set up!
Liking the location of the two additional bullets - handy!
I was thinking about maybe putting a digital scope on one day potentially - what rail do you have fitted if you don't mind me asking?

no one ever regretted buying a 75, arguably a better design than what came next.
308 is a wonderful 'do-everything' choice.

over the next few years you'll hear all kinds of advice, some of which will be good
the best thing I ever heard is:
"Stop worrying and enjoy your rifle"
Sound advice for sure!

At the moment I just want to make sure I'm doing all I can to look after it, the shop recommended a bore snake but I am still thinking of rods with patches to visibly see when it's clean ect... And how to best protect the wood
More research needed but as you say, just need to enjoy being the main thing

There are these really neat cleaning felts called VFG which are a great way to clean barrels. you have to keep looking and buy the big (500) bags to get the price down. The VFG cleaning rod isnt the best just get the adapter and buy a carbon rod.

It’s a Britannia so just goes on top of your optilock mounts, so i can switch scopes around, the Alpex has several zeroing profiles set up so it’s an easy job.

Reading all the reviews and researching this model leading up to the purchase & now reading all the amazing thoughts people have about this rifle first hand I am so pleased with my purchase - very well balanced and feels perfect! Looking forward to getting to know how she shoots at different ranges and start going out deer stalking with her!

You have had quite the variety! 375 sounds a bit fierce!
It's a little lively but nothing like as bad as people expect. It's quite a pleasant cartridge to shoot considering what it's capable of.

Nice choice of rifle. Though I am biased. Did you settle on/ find a factory offering your 75 likes? Normally you can’t go too far wrong with Sako ammo in a Sako
I have only used sako game head 123g so far and they grouped nicely!
Did my dsc1 with it and considering no fixed reference points I got the 4 shots within an inch which I was very impressed by!
Also got my first muntjac using the these and dropped on the spot so will stick with them for a while think! What are you using in yours?
