Just home from a five day hunting trip at Hunters Hill Safaris. Something my mate Carl organised through there agent Neil Jones. I never thought that I would want to go big game hunting but what an experience. My shooting has mainly been night time foxing with
on fallow and muntjac.I know some people will dismiss the idea of shooting big game on what is basically like our deer parks. However the area the game is over is vast . The Staff at the lodge could not do enough for us and the accommodation was out of this world as was the food. The PH Patrick and the trackers new there stuff and every day was another adventure with no shortage of game. All I can say is if you are thinking of venturing to South Africa for your first hunting safari I can highly recommend Hunters Hill. 👌

Like you I have never seen myself doing this, although I’ve been to Africa a few times. Recently though I’ve started to think what a great experience it would be and pondering a trip for my 50th in a few years. Out of curiosity, what sort of figure did this set you back, all in?

Hi Kentish it was around £4500 as I said my carer Carl 😆 🤣 I'm 62 sorted every thing . From booking the flights to speaking to Neil the agent .If you ever get to the Stalking Show they had a stand there this year .
Cheers Chris

Pleased that you had a good time. Was it cold out there? You look well wrapped up!
Going to South Africa doesn’t have to be horribly expensive and it is a totally different experience for sure.

Hi Selous yes it was there winter. So down to minus 2 some nights. Plus the chill factor from the wind. Then you also had the warmth from the sun around midday. Found it weird that we were only 1 hour in front of the UK . But Sun rises was around 6.45 am and it was pitch black at around 6.45 pm .

I hunted Huntershill a few years ago and also had a good time, everywhere in South Africa is fenced but, as you say Huntershill is bigger than most, 50,000 acres from memory.

Neil Jones - the UK agent is a great guy and, because he's a gamekeeper he has, over the (many) years he has worked with Greg developed very affordable cull packages (see half way down the page here Packages - Huntershill Safaris)

@Selous Huntershill is very high (3,000 to 6,000 feet) and they get snow sometimes! It does mean no malaria tablets needed mind!

@wheelie being pedantic - it looks like you hunted Plains Game (antelope and smaller) whereas Big Game generally covers buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard etc

The minimal time difference is a massive plus point. Can go for a few days and be back at work the following day without jet lag.
