For the blokes with sheds that have a vise.

Always remember my first lesson as a youngster re a vice, 'never leave it tight, someone might walk into it'. When not being used, over fifty years later its still a few turns loose. 'Always buy the best quality tools you can afford' was another. They knew their stuff back then.
 
I found a Paramo No 6 dumped at the side of the street. Quite rusty and very seized. I expected to have to strip it and repaint it but I was astonished to find that lots of the paint was still there under the rust. So I've left it with a lovely patina appropriate to its age rather than trying to make it like new. It's pretty much the favourite thing I own. I come from a family with lots of connections to heavy manufacturing in the midlands and this is a talisman for me (as well as being a handy tool, obvs).
