First off, this is nothing to do with me, I am simply posting for information as it came through a Crown Commercial Procurement portal I subscribe to.

I'll say that again, this has nothing to do with me! Please don't PM me for info as I don't have any (last time I posted a similar update here I was inundated with PMs)!!

Details are below of where to sign up etc but you will need to create an account to get access to the full documents so I've posted some info below from the Requirements to save folk wasting their time - this is not a recreational stalking lease, this is c.700 animals per year over multiple locations across Northumberland, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.

We require Contractors to carry out a targeted Roe Deer cull in North Forest District and North Yorkshire Forest District comprising of approximately 100,000ha across the two Districts. The areas on which the culling will take place will comprise of around 15,000ha and will be flexible and not fixed beat areas.

The contract holder will be managed by three Wildlife managers across both districts.

North Forest District comprises mainly of softwood conifer in the East and more mixed woodland in the West and is approximately 81000ha in size, with Kielder being the largest production forest in England.

North Yorkshire District forests cover 21,000ha across 30 woodland blocks, most of which is in protected landscapes with 19,000ha in the North York Moors National Park and 540ha in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). In addition, there are 280ha of new planting in the Tees Community Forest as well as substantial areas in the Vale of York. The district encompasses a widely diverse area and the main visitor facilities are in Dalby Forest, near Pickering

The Kielder cull area will be a 10000ha (ten thousand) block concentrating primarily on re-stock areas controlling initially five deer per 100ha or 500 deer per year off 10000ha. England species in season only.

The Grizedale area will be as and when to support the ranger team in isolated remote blocks. Due to a high restocking programme over the coming years due to Phytophthora it is also expected that this resource be used to target vulnerable re stock areas throughout the district.

North Yorkshire will be culling in isolated blocks and supporting the wildlife team on vulnerable areas.

The main cull area will be in the Kielder main Block initially with an area of 10,000ha expanding to 15,000ha if required. Total cull across both districts 700 animals per year base on culling 500 in Kielder 100 North Yorkshire and 100 Grizedale. That figure may be enhanced mainly in Kielder with the introduction of more ground to the extent of a further 250 animals per year. This is likely given the duration of the DPS contract.

I have had a look at this, it looks interesting and would like to be involved, unfortunately it is to large a project for me on my own, does anyone have contact details of companies that have tendered for any of the areas,

The buyer is the organisation letting the tender, so forestry England in this case. The “tenderer” is someone offering the culling service.

As I said earlier, this isn’t a recreational lease that you’d buy. FE is looking to buy the services of an organisation who can cull a lot of deer.
