Forestry training fund…

Looks like the FC launched this without getting all the geese lined up. I spoke to a couple of forestry consultants today and they were not happy that some trainers had been involved and not others so it’s unsurprising that the same happened with the deer section.

Morning all, is any one on here going to make use of the forestry training fund?
I’ve just been looking through the list at what’s on offer with 100% funding, dsc1+2 are on there along with DMC.
And a lot of other useful looking courses! Various pest control and chainsaw bits, hedgelaying…all sorts.

I spoke to the FC office today, in Exeter. The lady knew nothing about it until I mentioned the info on the website. I wanted to know who was running the DMC. She rang the Bristol office, they hadn't heard of it.
Looking at the address on the website for the funding system. It's a company based in Leicester. So looks like the FC has subbed it out.

Looking at it you can email them to ask them to add others to the list, they qill assess and all being well add them on also

Wow that's pretty impressive!

The only other useful ones for me would be rabbit control or first aid.

Did you apply for a course with specific dates, or leave the date bit blank?
The courses I'm looking at are all "date to be confirmed".

I'll get on and apply then, only hope they haven't run out of grant money already! It covers the whole of England so £700,000 won't stretch very far.

They added a whole extra page of providers since yesterday, that's probably why the link wasn't working.

Does anyone know if any of those approved training providers give Deer Management Course? I couldn’t find anyone but only BDS offers this course who is not registered in approved trainers list.

I think they have been added now but still no available training in their website. Anyway I’ve already applied for and put a dummy date. If it’s approved, fingers crossed, training days can be sorted out with me and BDS.

The BDS are now listed as a supplier, you will need to apply directly with the FC for funding.
PM me with your details if you want to put your name down to attend any the currently listed courses or would like us to run a course local to yourselves if enough interest.
