The funding scheme is still accepting trainers.. I have just had my application approved. ( chainsaw rather than deer) so they must be thinking that it will extend to a few more years??

Scanning some of the previous post I see some replies granting funding in just under a month from submission date.

Mine has been almost a 1 1/2 months now. Anyone waited that long for a response ? Do you get feed back if rejected ?

I waited about three weeks and got confirmation of funding, check your spam, search for applications@ftfund.co.uk mine ended up there

Just for Info if anyone else is in the same position.

I contacted the Forestry training fund scheme this morning as I had not heard anything from my early march applicaion.

Wow, it took them 6 minutes to reply with the update. Very impressive reply time to my email.

As the Funding I am seeking is not until 24/25 they have not begun to process these applications yet. Plan to be done later this summer when I and others in the same position should be notified.
Can stop checking my emails and junk folder now.

Would recommend anyone that wants to learn more about deer/deer management to take a look on there, I had the funding for the advanced deer management course through this which was a really good course

I've applied for funding for a BDS/LANTRA Deer Management course, though no dates in the pipeline. I'm a little confused about the new DMQ Deer Management Certificate and whether BDS will be offering this instead in future.

BDS have said they will be offering the new DMQ DMC next year, dates TBC. I will try and find out if they see it replacing the the previous course

Please note that all available funding for the Forestry and Arboriculture Training Fund is now fully committed. Any new applications received will be held on a reserve list and will only be processed should any additional funding become available at a later date.

They do say it might take 10 days.

To be fair to them as well, the website is a lot better for finding people course providers near you.

I read the BDS post wrong sorry, they will still be offering the BDS LANTRA Deer Management Course as per Deer Management Course - The British Deer Society and the dates published for next year are here: BDS Deer Management Courses Bookings - The British Deer Society

Took 3 working days for mine to come back! I applied lunchtime last Thursday, got the approval email Tuesday afternoon.

However, it has to be used before 31st March 2024 and BDS are not running that course until April 2024. I've requested an extension from Forestry Funding, but not heard back yet. I understand that there is a lot of demand. Many will be disappointed I fear. I may be one of them........Perhaps I can apply in the next round?

I’d be surprised if they don’t extend it, i over tan the date for dsc1 in the first round and they emailed me, gave me the opportunity to speak to the trainer and I just gave them the new date, happy days.

I didn't give a date on the application, just that I wanted to do the Deer Management Course with BDS. Ideally I'd like to use the grant against their first available course in April in Petersfield.

I applied 21st September and heard back on 26th.

Seems odd they dated yours and others to be taken by the end of March 24, hopefully they’ll sort it out.
