i shot a fox last year which 1 second prior had clamped on a hare. it was unbelievable timing. sadly too late for the hare but hey ho. they are formidable hunters. a few years ago in april i got a vixen with 4 moles in her mouth.
When you think about it, most predators catch the very young and old or infirm prey, thus keeping prey species populations controlled and healthy. Something we have to do sometimes, for example with deer populations. So it makes sense that foxes will rarely take healthy adult rabbits.
