Foxpro wildfire issue

I use a Firestorm which uses a cable into the unit to update the memory but I’ve also done a couple of Wildfires for mates.....albeit a while ago.

Just a couple of thoughts....
The other week one of these stopped working and it turned out to be the card had jumped out of its locking latch and wasn’t connecting......

Make sure the naming convention of the individual sounds is correct and you've got the right number of calls on it..... ie starting from 000....001 etc and they’re suffixed .fxp, .mp3 etc

I might get over to where one of the Wildfires is today and will have a look at the size/capacity of the card.... I couldnt see a size mentioned in the destructions...

I might have a couple of spare cards here ...... if all else fails then you could email me your calls and I could load it at my end and post it to you....... Bobjs may already be ahead of me here?

cheers

Cheers fizz that's great. I read on the manual that the card can be removed from wildfire for programming or I suppose a cable can be used also as that's how the whole thing started for me!!
The card that came supplied is a 1gig ad and I think it works fine I poped it in to a kids toy camera and took a picture it saved the picture ok. I also used the 2gig card from that camra just to be sure . I loaded calls on to it and poped it back in to caller but no joy !! And there I think my problem is as u mentioned the particular way sounds are put on to cards and I think now that's where I'm going wrong.
When the card is loaded properly and poped back in to the foxpro wildfire there should be no reason for it not to work!!

Sounds like a corrupt card to me , also have you tried removing the batteries from the unit and let everything reset , then try again, also remove card and try it itself in computer , but should be simple fix , where did you get the caller

From your screenshot it looks like the program is still looking for the caller.... I’ve had a problem with that before where the caller is connected after the program is loaded/run...sorted by plugging in the caller before firing up the program utility.

My Firestorm has a printer type socket for connection to the computer...... I’m pretty sure the Wildfire doesn’t have that socket? and the memory card needs to be put into a reader/adapter and plugged into the pc/Mac as a usb drive? Then it can be found when running the program.

Bit difficult without having the caller to hand....

As for the naming convention.....iirc some methods add an extra list number to the front of the name....eg 000 pheasant.fxp becomes 000 000 pheasant.fxp which immediately buggers it up.

cheers

The wild fire has a printer style usb in the rear beside the sd card..
Il plug in the foxpro first this evening and then start the program and see if that helps ..

YES, you and others are correct here. The file NAMING convention is CRITICAL to the device being able to see, access and use the sound files as anticipated. Get that wrong, even by a single alphanumeric and the file might just as well not exist!! Read whatever instructions manual you have regarding this VERY CAREFULLY Else you will continue to have 100% frustration and nowt else...

Best of Luck,

Hi agen !
The sound file that I wanted to load on to the caller came to me in an email!! A zip file ! I expanded the file &that displayed the calls I clicked on the first call and they all displayed in the scorce file on the left so they should be good to go !! But regardless when the caller is connected to the pc nothing happens .
Iv tried copying the calls direct to the callers card and syncing the remote but it doesn't work!! ..I'm at a loss as to what else to try.

Have you got the backup of your original as saved by the Foxpro? Might take a while to find as they have a fairly lengthy/weird name.... I ended up looking under file manager for files on the date you did it....
Might be worth trying.....
- set up a new desktop folder and give it an easy name
- select all the individual files in the back up...copy them
- paste into the new folder to give you a new base file
- open the caller file which should appear as an SD memory?
- select all and delete.....or reformat it .... FAT32? (File Access Table to get the right structure)

- back in to your new folder... select all and copy
- paste those into the Foxpro memory....

If that works...... make a new copy of the backup file, call it something different
- copy and paste the new sound where you want it
- edit the number to match the sound you’re deleting
- delete the old sound line
- gives you a new file to copy into the caller

Hopefully that’ll work..... the trick is getting down to the level where you can see all the details of the file and it’s name.

Im running in the dark on pc’s a bit here as I’ve had a Mac since 2007 and the Foxpro utility didn’t work for Macs at that time but the principles are the same.

I did get over to walk the dog but bloody forgot to look at his caller....Doh!

Yes the caller prompted a back up when first plugged in and I have that file in my documents . I also have my buddies calles saved I recieved them via e mail he in turn recieved them from foxpro .
I would have taught that putting them calls directly on to the sd card might have worked but tired that last night with no joy. If I get the chance later tonight il have another go but I'm getting annoyed with it now.
Il give your idea a go tonight c how it goes!!

again it will be something simple , do you have the caller switched off when attaching it to the computer if not it should be, make sure the sd card s in the slot correctly i had this with my spitfire it would slid in the back of the mount, and also try uninstalling and reinstalling the foxpro programmer

Looks like the foxpro will be

Yep fox pro is off when connecting .. if checked the sd card the connecting cable ..iv reinstalled the program more than twice iv also formatted the foxpro many times iv loaded calls directly to the card etc etc .. a member here is willing to put calls on a fresh card and send it on to me to try if that fails then it's the fox pro itself that's gone ..if that's the case il send it to foxpro!

Tom let fizz send you a card and see how it goes bud,

Bob.
I'm buying a card on ebay tonight a 2Gb will be fine and having it posted to him!! He will put on calls for me so that will eliminate any error my end and if the fox pro doesn't work after that I'm afraid it's off state side with it the foxpro ...

Would u have noticed these files at the bottom of the call list you might have saved??
A nice chap called Andy pointed out these and claimed if they were not on the list it may be the reason my caller wont connect!!
Just wondering if u noticed them..
