Fragments of Mammoth Tusk...

Do you normally put liner on the back of bolster or is it particular for this handle material?
Sometimes I do, sometimes not there is no hard and fast really for me.

When this material arrived I was a tiny bit dubious as to it's strength so I decided to support it with some thicker than normal G10 liners, as the liners were a little thicker than the ones I would generally use I decided to run it along the bolster too, I think it works well.

The plan was for two stainless Corbys as fixings, as I saw it all coming together I knew that those black, carbon fibre ones would look better, so I managed to make contact with the client and we had that chat, he went with it and again I think they work very well.

I like the way you have run the liner at the back of the bolster and it fits in really well with the carbon fibre fixings. I'm also taken by the shape of the handle, it's a shape I like. It will be good to see a photo of the whole knife once you get the tape off the blade. Very nice work Stuart :thumb:

it does work well, very smart. Are the carbon bolts on a steel thread?

absolutely awesome. is it readily available? are there good sources for it? how does it hold up with use?
Yes, readily available, the material is made in Denmark I believe but there are retailers dotted around too.

I suspect it'll hold up very well, once stabilised/set into resin it really is very solid, I think bonding to that thicker G10 liner will help it no end too.

Size isn't everything of course but this will make quite the thing, inspired by the knife in this thread and started today, it will get the same type of 'Mammoth Fusion' handle scales.

150mm blade length, currently 5mm thick (that might reduce to 4mm, not sure yet), hollow grind, tapering tang, mirror polished and stainless bolsters.
