No squirrels on me this year, shot them all last year. It will be next year they return and I hit them again. Shooting does work.

Great, if it works. Even talk of greys being eradicated!
But what about the previous 'cure all', Pinemartens? If contraception wipes out the greys, presumably they'll have to switch to predating more of the increasing red squirrel population.
Or will consuming greys full of contraceptive drugs make the predators sterile as well?

As another tool in the anti grey squirrel armoury then i have no objections.
Its just a shame that it wasnt mentioned thus along with a compliment of the existing methods.
Yes there may be potential issues with a pass on of the "hormones" but whether or not there is i dont know.

Contraceptives will stop pregnancy thus the females will be in season more regularly, this extra activity will conflict with time available for feeding thus squirrels might not gain sufficient weight to survive the winter.

Secondly it could lead to an increase in STI in squirrels.

I do wish these reporters looked at all the issues.
