Freelander2 problem....

Guys my Freelander2 has been brilliant now at 70k, developed a problem with water collecting in the drivers footwell after driving even a few miles... have soaked it all up but it returns each time, I cannot find where it’s coming from.
Depending on the weather the damp condenses then freezes on the inside screen and roof lights.
No leaks, it’s not from outside... driving me nuts 😡

Probably not relevant im this case. I've had a few VW's where the drainage from the corner of windscreen /bulkhead area through rubber drains became blocked by rotten leaves etc and would then drain through the ventilation system into the front footwells. I have no idea if your car has a similar setup.

my son inlaws freelander 2 did this and it was the heater matrix, cost him £500 to get it fixed.< if thats your issue buy a bottle of Kseal around £12/£15 it has cured other freelander 2 leaks >

Does it have a sunroof...? I ask because my Discovery had a similar thing; water that I dried up kept coming back as the channel under the floor was full of water (which I could not see until I raised the carpet). It was a sunroof drain pipe which had a perished elbow, causing water to fill the footwell.

Thanks for your reply...Yes it has a sunroof but this water is gathering in just the drivers footwell, the rest of the car is bone dry. It has been suggested that it’s connected with the aircon... so should have occurred in other cars?

Thanks for your reply... ive checked all the drains etc, the water returns even after no rain for a day or two after mopping up.

Thanks for your reply... I’ll follow this up and keep my fingers crossed.

So it might be the drain pipe on the driver's side of the sunroof, which (at least on other LRs) should exit behind the driver's side wheel arch (or similar area, possibly out a vent on the front side panel).

If this is the case, it will only leak into one side of the car; mine was the passenger side which was a total b***ache but I fixed it eventually.

My car only had water in one area too. Mind you, mine is a Discovery 4 (also at about 70k!).

The sunroof will have a drain pipe on both sides at the front going down the A pillars if it is the same as the ones I worked on for Inalfa a sunroof cassette supplier near Venlo Holland in the 90s so the drivers drain may be blocked. try using an airline to blow down the hole to clear it. Basic bad maintenance as owners should clear the debris now and again.

I managed this with some strimmer cord, but it turned out that the drain pipe was clear...just perished...just feed the strimmer cord though the drain pipe from the top *IF* this sunroof has the same drains as other LRs.

JLR would not be using two different suppliers for sunroofs as very few companies do them if you have AC why fit one? Just tape it up. The sunroof cassette is the same just with a differing bit of tin to match the various roof contours. That's what we were doing

Don't force anything down the sunroof drain or you will damage it, and then it's serious ball ache. Check with sunroof open in the aperture for leaf or other detritus or at the sill outlet for over zealous underseal, or just muck etc.
garden hose will be enough pressure to check.
