Hello all, finally got round to camping for the whole event this year. Very much looking forward to it but I thought I’d ask if there are any tips or watch outs for the weekend ?

Never had a problem on the campsite in that respect. Everyone looks out for each other.
Besides, how do you lock a tent anyway?

Precisely, I’m going with a positive outlook with the intention of having a good weekend . If someone is desperate enough to to nick my camping gear then I hope they make good use of it.

Decline all offers to tarmac your tent porch and you'll be just fine.

Come down to the sporting dog pavilion and have a meet and greet with the 20 odd minority breeds in attendance. We all also make an appearance in one of the gundog rings each day where you'll hear about each breed. And I can put you off owning a Chesapeake for life

I have helped to run the fishing demonstration area in the past and didn't have any major problems with camping on either time. Getting a shower first thing in the morning took some planning as all the exhibitors and organisers were trying to get a shower at roughly the same time. One one occasion I got into a cubicle, stripped off then looked down to see a king sized lion bar sized turd on the shower tray. No way was I dealing with that so I got dressed and walked out telling the next person who just happened to be the World Spey casting champion at the time Scott Mackenzie not to use that shower as some dirty b@st@rd had decided to drop the kids off there. Fast forward 6 hours and I'm driving a golf buggy across the site to pick up some trophies and amongst the 1000's in the crowds someone said "Look its that lad that sh1t in the shower"

Go, make the most of it and enjoy yourself.
However Leec6.5 is quite correct, the game fair is nothing like it used to be, and certainly don't go expecting to find many bargains.

Enjoy, it is no more hassle/risk in the camping that at any festival / gathering etc anywhere else and possibly less.
the older people that remember game fairs prior to the internet selling taking over will reminice about the bargains that used to be had.... not know, but due to most shops not carrying the stock levels they used to, enjoy the opportunity to handle/see/admire stuff in the flesh, talk informatively /or bull**** about a variety of topics. Indulge in the tasting sessions of wine gin whiskey etc and not have to drive home
I used to help out at the West Of England show on the dog activities and still do at Frampton fair... they are still good fun, but I have to admit I baulk at the entry prices of some now.
