Anyone have any experience of bringing a deer skull from Ireland to the UK via post or anything
As I've got a sika to come over

I’ve done it both ways, but pre Brexit, without a problem.
Nowadays I think I’d scoot up the road to Newry myself or use one of the NI delivery services to collect and then dispatch it over to the mainland.
You avoid customs checks and duty that way.
Or just stick it a case and bravely saunter through the green zone yourself.
What can possibly go wrong?

They reckon they sent it via dpd so I think it may be gone forever

It’ll be stuck at the depot waiting for customs clearance, which will depend on what’s on the declaration, it should get returned to sender eventually, or it just might turn up on your doorstep.
Was it any good?

I sent a Muntjac head (For caping) to USA about 5 years ago.
I froze it for a week then wrapped it in newspaper and finally put it in a Tupperware box and sealed it well with Duct tape.
From memory it cost about $90 for Express shipping.
I think it got there in 3 days.
Ken.

Well there is no border between north and south and no border checks allowed at Belfast stranraer. Last time I was in Ireland I brought a whole carcass home but I was driving…. No issues though
