Quite right. Stop looking for shortcuts or clever inventions and just get a hoist or a winch that is man enough for the jobAs some one who has lifted some terrible heavy things and thought I was going to die afterwards , If you did a risk assessment on what you are doing you wouldn't do it , fitting a winch should be the only thing your contemplating .
I have used various options over the years. My current set-up in my Navara is a 12v winch bolted to a piece of 50mm heavy wall box section that is then in turn bolted at each end to the buck side tie-downs and then bolted to the rear buck tie-downs in 2 places.
