So I’m Canadian and most international hunts advertised on the market to North Americans are aimed at the Americans.

I just reached out to a fellow in Ireland that quoted me $16500 euros for 2 fallow deer and a couple of goats !!!!

Then I nicely told him that was out of my budget and the opposite end of the $ spectrum to things I have read on here in the “stalking available” forum.

He responded telling me not 1 acre of England was free range hunting and those prices are for ‘shooting’ and reflected 10 years of over production high fenced estates….

So tell me the truth. I’d like to go stalking in England for free range deer!!

Most deer are free range in the UK - but the hunting is not. I suspect what he means is that there is no public hunting ground.

I don't know much about shooting in Ireland, but those prices seem through the roof to me.

Is this quote for stalking in Ireland (op says England?), because if it is then for that price the outfitter might be quoting a hunt for the mysterious and illusive Irish ibex , which they are a few you tube vids of very happy Americans explaining how they were so pleased to bag a trophy Irish ibex. A fool and his money….

It's a well known fact that unscrupulous people will extract large amounts of money out of dumb Americans pockets he must have assumed you were a dumb yank! You should be able to find what you want somewhere in Britain maybe a few days in one part on fallow then upto Scotland for goat?

6 nights of food and accommodation @ say £400 per night = €2,400
5 full days of stalking @ €500 / day = €2,500
4x carcasses (let’s say 2 are medal and 2 are cull animals) @€500 / animal = €2,000
Total = €6,900. Maybe round up to €7.500 with tips.

Does seem a tad expensive unless they are quoting for a 5* hotel and Michelin starred food and top wines, etc.

I don’t think I could talk when I saw the quoted price.

Flights are direct and cheap into the Uk normally

And I would prefer to stay in a farm house in the hunting area and cook my own food and don’t need any wine lol

Actually, scratch that - I will happily give you 4 days stalking on cwd, roe and muntjac. Accommodation is in the nearest premier inn and you can select from the finest cook/chill pre prepared food money can buy along with mediocre beer / wine.
All chauffeuring will be provided in a filthy shogun (muddy dog paw prints are all the rage) and I will do all of this for the princely sum of £12k! I will even do the airport run for that fee!

In all seriousness my Wife and children and I would like to fly into the UK. Rent a car, do some site seeing and a few days hunting. Possibly a hunt few different locations for a couple different deer species. Some mature bucks and some management/culls/nuisance. Nothing crazy just have a good time hunting.

A more affordable option would be to book some stag stalking on an estate like Glenmuick. Cottages are available on the estate, which adjoins Balmoral. I've done the same and it cost me a lot less than you've been quoted. Roe, sika and fallow stalking is also available in Scotland.

Loads of great places to aim for then, whether it’s close to London or further afield.
Just pick an area and post your requirements on here and I’m sure you won’t have any issues getting a great mix of hunting and sightseeing.

Mabie house nice family hotel. If you spend half the quote i would be shocked
