My favourite load:
Hornady 180gr Interbond #30709, IMR 4350 52.5gr, 2600fps (calculated)
Note: the above load uses IMR 4350 which isn't the same as H4350
I've used the 180gr on red stags, kudu, warthog, gemsbok etc and it works fine.
My second favourite load:
Nosler 165gr Ballistic Tip #39584, N160 58.5gr, 2725fps (measured)
I've used the 165gr on roe, red hinds and so on. It works fine.
Although I have a box of the 165gr loads remaining, my standard load is now the Hornady 180gr Interbond. I can't see any point in shooting light bullets from .30-06. If I wanted to shoot 120gr bullets at high velocity, I'd have bought a .257 Roberts or a .25-06 (to name but two).
