Good tough smartwatch advice

Jumping on this too to echo the Garmin advice.

My Fenix 3 Saphire was bought in 2015 it’s still going strong. It was worn every day pretty much until I started wearing mechanical watches daily a couple of years ago. It’s been all over the world, under the sea and jumped from planes. Military exercises and operations, the lot. It’s only on its second strap, but the strap tidiers are weak, you can buy these in bags of 10 now too for a couple of quid.

I still use it for working out instead of my Apple Watch depending what I need to do.
I also still wear it stalking when I want to pull up a Grid reference and use it as a GPS.

You could do worse than getting one of these. 👍🙂
Ken.
Ps. These days a calendar is near enough for me to tell the time.

Got the garnin fenix 5 plus. Still does what it’s supposed to do and battery lasts about a week with around 5 hour gps usage. Just charge when I remember and over night .

The misses has an Apple Watch, does more but gps is not as good and the battery lasts about a day.

I use the Garmin Tactix 8 but have a nearly new Instinctx2 for sale if you are looking. Both are really robust and great battery life due to solar

Apple Ultra Watch 2 - it was quite expensive when i bought mine, but i see the Ultra Watch 1 sometimes advertised second hand on Gumtree, Fleabay etc for less than £300 - the first gen is also an excellent tough watch…

A bit off topic, but I have to smile at the local keep fit fanatics in the latest fashion running gear, constantly stopping mid run to consult their strapped on wrist and upper arm telemetry to see if their heart's still beating and their blood oxygen is still in spec...

I used a Suunto Spartan for years whilst farming etc. Most rugged and reliable watch I have had. Really good battery life that would go over a week
