Goodbye SACS!

Back...it seems an age now...I added to the thread on THAT lead shot voluntary ban letter to regret that I had renewed but a few eight weeks beforehand my SACS membership.

I am delighted to say that I was happy just last week early to return, by post, their invitation to renew advising them that I would not be doing so and that my decision was as a result of their signature to THAT letter.

I shall now be joining the CPSA who offer insurance for all shooting sports including not only clay pigeon but also game, vermin and deer and further CPSA state on their website that they offer "Legal expenses insurance for shotgun certificate revocation and renewal issues with effect from 1st April 2014."

And of course CPSA (for whatever reason) were not signatories to the great BASC endorsed "February betrayal. Nor of course do BASC offer AFAIK legal expenses insurance for shotgun certificate revocation and renewal issues.

So I'd urge others too as we come to the end of the year and, for some, the ten, eleventh or twelfth month of their current membership of any such organisation also party to the "February betrayal" to also look elsewhere for an alternative arrangement.

I shall be calling them next week and will let you know. As I've a co-terminous FAC/SGC I'll also be asking if the possession the FAC would disbar me from the cover they appear to offer.

It seems as they were not signatories as they do very little lobbying or pro-active work towards game shooting. Certainly a quick look on their website and flick through their news reel shows no evidence of this.

Other organisations (GWCT,SACS,BASC and others) atleast get involved with lobbying/science and policy. Agreed many people do not align with all of their views but they do a lot more than simply provide some insurance.

just some thoughts

I agree with mn87s point. Best foxcall also seem to offer comprehensive insurance options.
