Got spooky deer that scent you 200yds away and vanish....smear your clothing with some gralloch and then try..works to mask the human scent very well downside you lose your stalking buddies, and the wife bans you from the house to the "Man Shed". LOL Tony ps. this is not a wind up!

Don't let the missus wash your outdoor clothes. keep them in the garage muck and all. I have had a Roe doe come within three metres whilst sitting quietly. :thumb:

Hi Devon Deer Stalker..great minds think alike! On an opposite tack once had a guy turn up to stalk covered in Aramis aftershave.....TW.T  Tony

my stalking attire absalutely stinks most of the time, even worse when i get wet lol

Mine doesn't get washed and doesn't come in the house, still the deer know I am there from the next estate. I may actually get a round off on one soon.

I understand where your all coming from with the smelly clothes thing but I kinda take a different approach. I wash them when they get dirty but I just wash them on a relatively hot wash with no detergent and they come out fine. If you never wash your clothes then the build up of perspiration in the armpits of your jacket and the seat of your trousers will accumulate, the bad strong smell you get from sweat as far as I'm aware is a result of bacterial action. So to not wash your cloths will result in the build up of the 'human smell', I think your more likely to be scented.

So maybe the better approach would be to wash your cloths then leave them out on the line for a few wet days for a good old rinse and airing??

I did wonder, having been out beating the last few weekends and working up a good sweat with the mild weather we are having down here in the south, it's not going to be long before my wax jacket is going to need cleaning as it is starting to smell of the stale sweat - which as aliS points out - is a very human smell.

I wash my kit 80% of the time after wearing it, I will leave it out on the line for a day (Providing it doesn't rain) to get a very clean fresh smell through it, getting rid of any scent what so ever, does it work......Who knows, some days successful, other days, not successful........

Try making your approach from down wind, shouldnt matter what you or your wet dog smell like;)

My Good Lady bought me some unperfumed washing powder so that I'd let her wash my shooting gear every now and then. She also got me some A'kin scentless shower gel & shampoo to encourage me to use the bath more often! :)
