To be fair i ran 1 for 3 or 4 years, can't really fualt it. Done quite a bit of mway work travelling right down to south of eng a few times and down to grouse in yorks/northumbria plenty. I might of put 30-40k miles on it mibbee even more
I actually quite liked it, comfy to drive but i will say i'm not over fussy with motors for work
Really didn't owe me anthing
Was an insurance write of so very cheap and quite badly damaged althou just body work. I fixed it up myself althou not to a massively high standard, but useable.
Can't remembr it ever really letting me down, i thought not bad to drive, not a massive amount of power for trailer work.
Had heated front seats which were quite nice.
Would i have another 1?? Probably no unless very cheap, but thats more due to the towing ability. They must be getting on a bit now mostly 10-15 type plates.
If it looks tidy and money is a lot cheaper than a similar aged L200, go have a look, have a look at spares 1st, crawl about look at the chasis giving it a good poke. I have seen other pick up brands with far worse corosion/rust issues than that GW, infact my current L200 is far worse than the GW and about same age, but it spent most of it live on the A9 before i got it, so on heavily gritted roads a lot of its life.
Like any 2nd hand motor check the MOT history see wot its needed each year, sometimes can give u a clue to how its been driven
I think 1 problem them can be bad for is finding reverse, i think the magnet? thingy on the gearstick can be funny at times.
If it was only for me running about with no trailer i probably would have another 1, but it would have to be very tidy and low miles and cheap as u wont get much resale value out of it, which isnae a problem if u bought it cheap
As for rot never had any issues and think mine was abused a bit before i got mine ( guesing a keeper or farm truck, watery mud splashes all throu engine bay as if flying throu muddy gates/puddles too fast, which i think they slid into to do the damage, plus a load of empty 17hmr cases scattered about inside.
There is/was a garage in Ayr i got any spares from i needed, there is also a great wall garage in coldstream, never really had any problem with spares, althou it didn't need much that i can remember. 2 2nd hand driveshafts when i very 1st got it which weren't dear, guessing sat about for a bit aftr being smashed?
i did find odd 1's getting split for spares too in online scrappies
