Me too…wouldn’t do it again….and would not give more than 1 star on trust pilot…Its only because no one thought of it![]()
So I’ve done my bit…
Me too…wouldn’t do it again….and would not give more than 1 star on trust pilot…Its only because no one thought of it![]()
Anyone prepared to discuss?
To add. A warmer planet means ?If you mean food resources then generally speaking , the world is quite capable of feeding itself, and at least 50 % more, in the next 20 -30 years , we shall find out, unless covid 25 makes me a liar !
North America (the US and Canada) , if farmed properly could likely feed the world on its own if needs be, it wouldnt be the most interesting diet, but it would ward off starvation.
So why do people in African countries ect end up in Famine and starvation ? Is Africa as a continent not capable of feeding its populace ? Of course it is , but like North America feeding the world, it chooses not to , for political or economic reasons.
Poor farming practices, war or cultural issues are the real drivers , whilst over population means more mouths to feed, more hands tend , normally to boost the labour force necessary to produce food.
Ethiopia ect in the 70s and 80s never seemed to be out of famine and starvation , yet a good deal of the country is not an arid desert, but fairly water rich , and cool in the higher mountainous areas.
You often hear of Zimbabwe and SA being the bread basket of Africa, the land is literally perfectly adequate to feed the continent , thats when its managed properly, but hey , thats another story...
The Irish potato famine in the 1840s , was believe it or not , NOT caused by the English starving the Irish to death deliberately (Fair hill will be along shortly to correct me on that) but principally , poor farming practice, based on the insistence of growing one crop , they actually knew the blight was coming 5 years before , but did nothing to diversify (the whole of Europe had the blight)
It didnt help that the population of Ireland at the time was 8 million, 2 million more than it is now.
There are extenuating issues of how the land was managed by the landlords and agents, but if there were no tenants , because they had been deliberately starved to death , theres also no rents being paid.
The fact is , if the land had been used right, it should never have happened.
In summary, its not a huge point, but food wise, the world could be fed with no issues.
If they all want to eat steak, maybe not, or if they all want a big house with internet and a Ferrari outside , then no.
But nobody need starve, the fact that people do, is a lot more of a crisis than getting to net zero carbon (Whatever that even means )
Also more CO2 = Better crop growth, but we are being slowly conditioned to CO2 being an evil gas , its as essential to plant life , and by extension , us , as O2 is to us also.To add. A warmer planet means ?
Grow more food.
Crops (food) grow better when it is warm(er)
Talking of population 'control' gets the plebs nervous, its a bit of a vote loserGiven (that) no credence is being given to exponential human population growth (apropos COP 26... see above post no 59) This must surely be a good thing?
This really is a large elephant, nuclear power has really moved on , and the dream of cold fusion always seems a tantalising small step away..Yes crop diseases may rise, but the greenies wont want chemicals to treat possible crop disease (Probably the same people who wont take the covid drugs - drugs not vaccines btw)
The same people who will not tolerate nuclear power, etc (which would be a possible solution _ another Elephant???)
Very much so .What people will not discuss (as they are blocked/cancelled) is the real possibility that the planet will get colder.
That is not a nice prospect.
Ah yes. "Peak oil" A mantra of the prepper doomsday merchantsShe is a Joan of Arc character
I'm far more interested in who is jerking the strings, why and what it means for me and mine
Not so interested in the message - nor the last 30 years of propaganda
I do remember lectures on strategic threats (as a junior and then middle ranking Naval Officer in the 80's) that talked about the end of oil, how it was going to fundamentally affect life styles and how to sell that change to the public without it causing social unrest
The two options suggested at the time were
To make a case based upon ....
1. Energy Security - the need to produce energy at home rather than rely on 3rd parties who's interests might not coincide with ours
or
2. Push an environmental agenda
Now it appears that the ''end of oil'' was somewhat exaggerated
However - we are now suffering the consequences of a 30 year propaganda war
People are all up for alternative energies as long as someone else pays
It will be interesting to see how people react when the real cost of this starts to land on the door mat
I'm reminded of a survey conducted a few years ago about the congestion on our roads
Most people were fully supportive of reducing cars on the road - however most people meant ''the car in front of them in the queue'' not themselves
I suspect it will be the same with this new religion
Never had children, never will. haven't been on a plane in fifteen years. Can't afford to waste money on gas guzzlers. I buy the most economical vehicle I can that will do the job (hard when you need a 4x4 for work, but I buy what's cheapest to run). Don't posses a car or have any four-wheeled vehicle for recreation. No point. I don't enjoy driving in grid-locked UK. My preferred mode of motorised transport is a motorcycle.Have those preaching depopulation themselves had the snip ?
Plenty moan and preach, but go skiing, fly long haul and drive gas guzzlers. Ursula von der Leyen even took a flight for 31miles!
Ive actually thought about a cob or adobe/rammed earth house.Never had children, never will. haven't been on a plane in fifteen years. Can't afford to waste money on gas guzzlers. If I can, before I die, I would like to spend the last years on my life living completely off-grid with no communication with the modern world whatsoever, in a straw bale or cob house with a thatched roof, no mains services, no bills, no TV, no phone, no computer, not even a letterbox, and in complete solitude.
Will that do?
I think that's precisely why she gets so much hostility. She's a puppet, a living, breathing stunt and everyone can see what's behind her.
If I don't. it won't be lack of ambition or will, it will be lack of money. To do that I will need to buy land and build the place. If I don't manage it and have at least a few years of freedom without worry, I will consider my life wasted. But unless you have money, in this jam-packed country, it is getting harder and harder to live without it or find anywhere to do it.Ive actually thought about a cob or adobe/rammed earth house.
Good for you - if you do as you say. Many, many dont.

Yes my inner spell check failed me.I know, and that was why he only got second place.
My poor attempt at humour, I am afraid.
Well the elephant in the room is too politically unpalatable to discuss publically but the simple reality is less people same resources same lifestyle less total pollution. Also carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. And water vapor ie clouds is the largest component of greenhouse gases. Not sure what we can do about it.Let me state the bleedin' obvious in case anyone missed it .
Too many humans.
Our Prime Minister has how many children now?
And... the No10 baby incubator has 1 so far, another on the way.
This post may offend the permanently offended - if so- good. I hope it does
I care not.
No one cares about how offended I am by all the lies and BS promulgated by the Cop 26
BTW Can anyone tell us how the other 25 COP meetings went?
Let's have another next year shall we ? COP 27...
Too many humans. This is the real "Elephant in the room"
This is "the truth that must not be said"
£££$$$ (Anyone get it yet?)
Anyone prepared to discuss? Or shall we wobble on about the Swedish place-"person" and shut it down with a binary cancellation thing?
Interestingly the professors in that article quote energy other than coal, electrify transport, reforest as the priority.Well I know it’s from the Guardian which no doubt auto-qualifies for the SD ignore button, but who would ever have imagined we would fail to build-back greener post pandemic:
‘Reality check’: Global CO2 emissions shooting back to record levels
