I have been controlling vermin on a moorland in Central Scotland for 8 years and there is a healthy grouse population on there now. Looking for two helpers to take some interest in developing it into a good walked up shoot. Some 400 acres of wild heather and 100 of arable farmland edging on to forestry block which have roe spilling over on to the land. I have been offered crazy money to let it out to foreign guns but would rather have some sport first for a few years. Get back via PM with your suggestions please?

I give up... Free grouse shooting, roe and vermin and exercise all for ZILCH.....

Out of interest how many grouse make up a healthy population on 400 acres? How many would you intend to shoot?
 
I will do a count in June/July and the amount shot doesn't matter as long as my walking line has a good day out.
A few brace to each gun will do me and i won't get stressed if it takes a year or two.
 
Don't understand what you want a few guns to shoot it or a few guns to look after it till you sell it to overseas? Name a price for a syndicate? Or just let everyone second guess. I think your more interested in what everyone else has rather than offer a place!
 
OK David, i want four experienced game shooters to have maybe 4-6 walked up days this season. Good fun and company and a dram or two after. Must live locally to check traps and snares but as i say this year will be getting to know the ground and work together to control vermin injurous to ground nesting birds and follow it up with actions. No money needs change hands even though my grouse keeper has offered me ££££thousand to sub let via him for foreigners to shoot over the ground. This land has had zero disturbance and is a true untouched landscape. I am after NO money but hope we all get a slice of something very rare and special.

That there is a very good offer, and one very good reason to live in Scotland, sadly I don't qualify, good luck red dot, I hope you find a team of guys, I'm sure you have been smothered with offers....!
 
Thanks 308, our sport has gave me a great deal of fun in my 45 years of hunting and i just love it more each year and if i see smiley faces it makes me smile too...

Fair comment. Too much money involved in the sport and not enough of 'for the love of it' these days.
 
jeez. If I was close enough to be off help to you I would bite yer hand off for an opportunity like this.

Would be more than happy to help you with vermin control, i work offshore so might not be around in the grouse season, but just getting out and keeping the foxes down would be great, and any other vermin you want removed
