Gun Camera

I have a Go Pro which i use for biking as well as for my gun dog cam....

However, Spypoint have a brand new product for 2013/2014 that will be right up your street.

Obviously based on the success of the Go Pro, they have developed their own take on the subject, designed for a hunting platform.

This is clearly big in the states.

No official details as yet, however check this dealer screen grab for info....

Comes with weapon mounts etc.

If everyone did that then it would be safe, but they don't all do it so it isn't always.
Quite simply, you don't know what is out there in the dark until you have pointed your rifle at it. I still say it is a bad idea! We can't all afford gen 3 spotting scopes etc, but at what price do you disregard safety?

Disregarding safety would be to have two guns when out, chambered rounds, not knowing the lay of the land, where livestock is, and not looking out/listening for anything out of the ordinary. But when I'm foxing etc, its land I know, I know where any livestock is, who's likely to be about, any military activity in the area, and only one gun is out at any time, bolt open, ready to close and shoot, anybody with me, lamp man etc, doesn't touch the gun, ever ! Short of floodlighting 700+ acres of land, or spending thousands on more kit, how much more can you do ?

It sounds like you have it all covered mate, but the original post asked about fitting a camera to a stalking rifle scope. Based on the points made above, there are clearly safer and better options which are probably also cheaper.

Action cameras great for close quarters shooting, but distance wise not much cop, i used it when shooting a roe at around 100 yards, got home and couldnt see the deer at all amongst the gorse.

Thanks for the replies the Gopro looks a little big for what i want im only wanting to record the final few minutes before the shot i don't intend to walk around filming as i go so basically a small camera that i can fix so i know where its pointing and that i can quickly switch on at the right moment

whats the attachment like for mounting on the rifle wayne.Been thinking about the bullet camera, and ive seen a similar type in bushwear, but as you say i don't think their range is more than 40 or yards, ideal for a driven trip.

it came with a velcro strap easy to put on or take off it has lots of other brackets and fasteners but the velcro one works for me hopefully get some footage at the weekend ,atb wayne
ps it is the only camera in the bullet style that isnt a fisheye so you get a nice flat image

If anyone wants to see a reasonable video test of Go-Pro vs Sony's Action Cam, this link should suffice.

There's since been a front case door with holes for the mic supplied as an accessory by Sony, not good if you're in a slight drizzle. but then again, the case door provided by Go-Pro with the holes at the back for the mic also allows water in.
