A gunsmith would have advised losing the bipod.
My Steyr has the green polymer stock and that was way too flexible when I first got it.
So I took the action out of the stock and filled in all of the open chambers along the stock with milliput resin and then moved the bipod mounting stud about 3” back towards the action (onto a thicker part of the stock) and voila, it’s now rigid and the bipod height is better for me.

I'm a little confused here, The rifle was new?, It then had a "Match crown done", now it has been RE crowned, what has been going on?
Did you drop it on it's head?:-|
Does seem a bit extreme. I know a badly cut crown can affect accuracy but not over 60m unless someone has gone at it with an angle grinder.
4 of my 5 rifles have ‘manufacturers’ crowns and they shoot just fine.

Its a mystery.
Its never shot well from day one.
But finally it now is.
A journey I am sure some would not have endured and at times I even questioned it myself.
But the ends justify the work involved.
Finally!!

It was rubbish when I got it.
Its been on a journey which has now concluded with a rifle that shoots, finally.

Mike is a very practical kind of guy. I would trust his diagnostics after him handling and seeing the rifle in the flesh more than my or some others guesses from the distance.

I don't get this . Nothing has been diagnosed unless you categorically state it also shot as bad without a bi pod fitted up front??
Yep, it shot bad of bags, tripod or anything else. I would not shoot factory rounds, tried loads, so went down the route of trying to make a load.

In hindsight I should have sent it back under warranty, but I don’t like being beat. As a wise Vulcan once said “there are always possibilities”

So eventually it’s sorted.
Would I do this again, no.

But you live and learn.

I trust Mike 100%. As I have said it’s been a journey but I am really happy with it now.

Sometimes it’s just to easy to throw the towel in.

There is always a solution.

That's good then. So it was the crown.

I've only ever bought one new rifle with a bad muzzle. Unknowingly. It does happen. Mine had a crimped end, as though the feed was to great on the lathe. Had to remove a few mm. It shot then.
