Hampshire New FAC timeline

I applied for a coterminous SG & FAC online with Hampshire Licensing on 8th May. I have a SG cert (still well in date), but it is a new FAC application.

They had closed applications over the 21/22 winter and opened up early April. But I then had to get the medical form and get it processed by the GP.

My question has anyone had any progress with a new application in Hampshire and what happens when my medical is 6 months old from date of completion and my application hasn’t been processed. I have politely enquired online but not received a response. I have had 3 letters advising they are prioritising renewals and applications for people who need firearms for professional reasons which I understand. Just frustrated by a lack of communication. And not being able to start stalking on permissions I have access to.

They are, like many, struggling with backlog and new people learning. I have been waiting for 5 months for a variation. It is what it is. As per the other thread that is going on it will be a while before it gets better.

I am in exactly the same position as you.SGC is up for renewal in Jan, so I’m hoping they do my FAC at the same time.

Same boat - put a variation for a .22 in May and still waiting.

I put in for a conterminous grant with Hampshire on the 4th April. Had my visit from the FEO on the 20th Sept and the ticket through on the 7th October.

No worries. The FEO did say that they are currently very unstaffed so they've recalled retirees to try and get through the backlog.

It must be a difficult job, being so understaffed. Everyone is already frustrated and a bit hacked off!

Had a call this afternoon too! Offered an appointment in 2 weeks! Just my luck I’m stalking in Scotland! FEO very nice and calling me back when he has his diary! Thanks

A Mr Johnson, very helpful. Called me back quick chat and he is coming next week! He was hopeful it wouldn’t be too complex as land is cleared already for requested calibre and a simple FAC application. With a coterminous SGC. Fingers crossed he is satisfied!

FEO visit today. Extremely nice chap. Had a good chat about permissions etc and calibres applied for. Very accommodating to let me add to my initial application on calibres. Based on factors that have changed since May. He was apologetic the process was so slow ( he has come back out of retirement to help the application team). Had a good chat about open / closed and applying for a variation in time, ammo allowances etc.

All in all a very pleasant meeting! He’s hopeful it should only take another 4 weeks or so until paperwork comes through! Not ideal, but I’m aware better than some places!

I’d be surprised. I have found Hampshire very sensible
