Northants were 10 1/2 weeks from application to receiving cert approx 2 1/2 wks after my home visit .all I'd say is plan ahead if you intend to apply for a different cal as was my case .ie stock up with ammo
no amount of moaning makes it go quicker in my op but a friendly call once in a while to jog things along can a bit .

We have to realise that the main object of ACPO is to remove private ownership of firearms, regardless of what the home office say, they believe they are a law unto themselves, which has been proved in countless enquires into police behaviour , as the head of ACPO is our own Mr Marsh what sort of service do you expect.
And as to the people who are thinking " they read these threads you had better watch out" I hope they do and are going to reply.

They can be good got my cert back after 4 months with my variation only to find they had left out a important part so called the same day and they rectified the error anda new cert was picked up within 2 hours

I called in to West Hill this lunch time, as I was passing anyway, to check on my recent variation. I was told that I had not completed the current form but if I had time to do it now and could explain why I required the change in calibre and confirm the intended use I could have my amended ticket there and then. 30 minutes in HQ tops.

12 weeks is 60 working days. Last time took 7 weeks, 43 days that was after chasing them. E- mailed them then rang up to enquire ref calibres, could only get a young lady who sounded european but at least she got the FEO to ring me as she was totally unable to answer my questions. One would think they should have someone in the office with at least a basic knowledge of firearms. Still very worried about firearms ownership details being in the hands of a private company.

So how has your complaint gone with the PCC, as their contract is for 60 days maximum on all actions?

Not had anything over 60 days yet on all my requests, some even 48 hours. Usually 40 days.
