Where I m from in the Midwest USA, it is normal to prepare both bull and ram testicles usually by slicing very thinly and frying. It is one of my father's favourites. I have never heard of anyone trying the same on deer, but why not? Thoughts please.

Im afraid because we are monycoddled and only eat lean meat
not many of us can eat offal, we never get REALLY hungry.

but....haggis tastes lovely black pudding is good too

we waste a lot of our deer because we only want to eat the haunches and loins

Yes I prefer cream doughnuts to raw meat and offal. Im soft.

On the other hand ever wonder what goes into cheap sausage?

I have tried deer testicles, tasted a lot like deer heart and as you said sliced thinly and fried makes a good meal.

yes iv had them also thinly sliced and fried in butter. If you didnt know what you were eating you would never guess. only the thought of it while eating puts you of.

We swallow them whole, cream sauce and all.

Reminds me of a tale I read of an old English Gentleman hunter that whenever he shot a lion he would demand that the lions balls were served up to him for breakfast the next day...phuck me they would want a lot of garlic on for mine ha ha.

A good haggis is one of my favourite meals, tatties and turnip, both with lots of butter in them. My kids have enjoyed it since toddlers as well. Personally I don't get put off eating haggis or black pudding in any way, regardless of how it is made. testicles though...?

Maybe it's a man thing?

Seriously why would you do this ?

I haven't .... but then, I hadn't had "heart" until quite recently either and I was astonished to realise I'd been missing something delicious all these years. Pan seared without even any cooking oil, fresh Sika heart about an hour after the beast had been shot and we'd dragged it out... very hungry then delighted... I was

So, balls next? Yeah!... Why not?... you gotta try it... at least once... maybe twice, to be sure ;)

When I am back in Colorado my Dad insists that I drive him all over the state to various places that serve up differing types of testicles: Rocky Mountain oysters- beef, lamb fries-sheep, buffalo oysters- bison. The best so far has to be Bruce's Cowboy Bar in Severance Colorado east of Fort Collins. I think he is testicle connoisseur, maybe a one-off. Anyway having tried so many, they are okay, maybe not the best bits, but certainly better than most odd bits that are usually chucked in the hedgerow. SO I will try bucks balls next time I am so lucky to be gralloching one. Still maybe though I will pass up ones in the rut!
