Heads up on failed delivery

Hi everyone I thought I might give a heads up and warning as to a company that has a cavalier attitude on the goods they send and fail to be delivered, I have forewarned him I would make it public and he still fails to acknowledge my emails. I ordered off the net some inert cartridges for my 12g ,410 and .223 basically to sort out the magazine on the .223 and yes the little .410 is a bolt action 3 shot,I sent off the order via the net then had a refund on postage on 1 item as they were going to make one package, had confirmation the order was on it's way and would be delivered on a date , date came and passed so contacted the seller as concerned he emailed confirmation of purchase, I then got a text, your parcel as been delivered ,where? no delivery so looked outside nothing , so contacted the seller and Hermes also the Police due to the nature of the items none interested. On the Saturday got another email Hermes we have your parcel and will deliver this afternoon or evening with a time slot ?,time slot came nothing then message item delivered ,again nothing then another message Hermes will contact you Monday to deliver your item again nothing all they send is a robotic contact details which go nowhere with no replies, I am out £20 45 to date also Paypal do not hold any hope of the goods and the resolution runs out Wednesday .The company Flectarn appears to run out of a private house in West End nr Guildford and uses a P.O Box address.

Hermes are an absolute shambles of a company. They seem to have a cavalier disregard for the quality of the 'couriers' they hire, and absolutely no accountability for damaged, lost, or late deliveries. They're so bad, in fact, that the Craft Gin Club we subscribe to dispensed with their 'services' and returned to using Parcelforce within a couple of week due to the sheer volume of complaints they received.

As for the seller? If they've fulfilled their obligations insofar as keeping you informed about delivery it's hardly their fault if Hermes cock it up (as they do so often). Having said that, if they then refuse to respond to emails I guess they deserve all they get . . . .

I know this is not what you want to hear, but given the circumstances, I would cut both delivery companies and any internet retailer a bit of slack at the moment. They are grappling with a massive swings in demand, staff absence and self-isolation, closed call centers, import and new post Brexit regs (this sounds UK only, but still this adds to the workload) and god knows what other new covid working practices.

Like most, I'm ordering a lot online at the moment and everything does arrive just a few days later that advertised. You don't say how late the order is, but my advice would be sit tight and it will sort itself out.

p.s. I've just posted some surplus venison to a close family member (who is stuck in a city) via regular door-to-door courier. Naturally I can't recommend this (its probably against their rules of carriage) but was done in the knowledge that if spoiled the meat could be binned with no tears shed. In the end, given the cold weather we have had, it was absolutely fine. They were very grateful.

The seller is probably ok.

As for Herpes as a delivery company......
You parcel will turn up in the next 10-14 days even though they say it has already been delivered.

We have delivery's from them every day here at work, and often they say its been delivered then the driver brings it out on the next day delivery, he just couldn't be bothered to delivery late in the afternoon.

I've had fantastic service from Hermes over the years - but don't think I don't know how lucky I've been!

As for Yodel....... Ahh......

I had a delivery from Hermes. It was delivered to someone else a few miles away and they kindly dropped it round when they were next in the area. Hermes knew they'd messed up as they'd submitted a black image in place of the photo of the delivery on the door step.

I have started used Royal Mail - for a small premium (72p if I remember correctly) they will collect.

Why would the police be interested in inert cartridges? There is no control on them. I refuse to use hermes and will not order from any company that does. I have had parcels thrown into the garden by their drivers as they could not be bothered to walk to the door.

Hermes are terrible. We had one previous driver used to open people’s door and put parcels in. It’s a wonder he never got either a punch or bitten.
One of the current drivers does his best to sort complaints that appear on a local Facebook page. But he shouldn’t have to.
I looked at their price and that of Royal Mail (who are not perfect) and I decided that RM were worth the extra. At least I know you have a chance with a compliant.

Hopefully the OP will get either delivery or refund. But I do tend to think carefully if Hermes are listed for delivery as to whether it is worth the risk, before placing an order.

I sold a scope on ebay, the buyer waited for the maximum before wanting a refund claiming it was defective so ebay refunded him. Long story but the buyer provided proof of shipping, guess what no package with a scope in it, instead an envelope amongst the junk mail.

Royal Mail thanks to my local postman confirmed they had delivered an envelope – ebay on that evidence provided a full refund so I wasn’t out of pocket.

Hermes are atrocious.
I ordered an expensive battery charger.
Never appeared. Contacted vendor who assured me that it had been sent.
Hermes unable to say if, when or where it had been delivered.

The vendor took responsibility and sent out another despite it hardly being their fault.

Many months later I was cutting back the hedge behind my garage and noticed a rather tatty box stuck underneath.

Yes, you guessed it, the battery charger from months previous. How the hell I was supposed to find it behind a garage under a hedge who knows.

Obviously ruined.
Hermes - avoid like a pestilence.

At the moment we have a very good driver with Hermes he manages to deliver everything sometimes as late as 9 pm. When he's on holiday chaos, parcels going to wrong address or never turning up.

Not defending Hermes in any way, quite the opposite, there are many reports that they don't treat their staff well so I guess the service is likely to reflect that. Poor from the top down.

But for a few years we used to have a brilliant Hermes delivery driver...really good fun and always went the extra mile...she always wrote "Hugs...BeverlyXXX" on the parcels which raised a smile. A single mum, sadly she was fired when someone complained that she had her daughter in the car when the school closed unexpectedly and sent all the kids home early one day.

Given we all have so many deliveries these days it is amazing how most are without incident...especially given all the drivers are on zilch money.

I have only had a couple of poor experiences with Royal Mail. But sod's law, always when it is urgent. You wait in especially...only to get a frustrating "we tried to deliver your package" slip when you know they didn't, and you have to go into town later in the day to pick it up....this only when our usual postman is off for a few days. Same with Parcel Force...normally no problem but if our usual driver is on leave the stand-ins can't be bothered with us out in the middle of nowhere at the end of the shift so makes up some "unable to deliver" rubbish...one parcel was delayed for a full week until our driver came back...on that one I wasted hours trying to find a customer service phone number to get through to a human to find out what was going on...

Fed up with parcels dumped outside a garage side door where they get soaked and in full view of a footpath
And the driver usually leaves the gate open
