Headspace Gauge

Hi all,

Currently in the market for some headspace gauges, i have been looking and have found two which to me look simular but with a big price difference.

First of all we have the Hornady Lock-N-Load headspace kit this is available for £40+ p&p

Secondly we have some unbranded eBay headspace gauges which look identical to the Hornady Lock-n- Load kit, these are around £15 all in.


Has anyone used both or have any first hand experience with either? Any help is much appreciated!

I use the Hornady - knowing the exact fired case headspace dimension is a significant benefit for any reloader.

Look up Ugly Annealer / Derraco - there is a UK Facebook group and a chap selling full headspace and comparator sets for £50 and they are really neat. Same idea as the Hornady ones, but better value and really well made.

Go with the eBay option, all you are doing is measuring your cases with your micrometre and attempting to make the cases shorter by 1-2 thou.

Just what he said, there are about t sets of these in our club, very well made, look and feel superior to the Hornady stuff. I have their ugly annealer and trimmer for both 223 and 6.5CM. Very well made decent prices I can’t recommend them enough v
