Heating oil

From memories of tanker driving for Tank freight out of Gulf in Ellesmere Port, I think 500 litres cost the same to deliver as 1.000
Its all digital now, so the tanker might have 3 compartments 6000l each usually Kero, Gas Oil and Derv and driver just types in quantities for each delivery no extra jerry cans can be filled nowadays

And, some tanker firms will surcharge you if they can't get the 500 litres in, say plucking figures 64 litres short can cost you £40??????????????
One big reason I got shot of Boilerjuice years ago.

I was involved in seismic exploration for oil and gas for 36 yrs.. The North Sea development of oil and gas from the early 70's was meant to make us energy sufficient, but UK goverments since the reserves were found treated the revenue as a cash cow and have basically blown the lot..zero government forward thinking.. I believe the last refinery in the UK that could refine diesel and related fuels such as home heating oil and jet fuel closed down several years ago, our diesel is imported from Europe.. a terrible and dire situation to be in. I believe the UK is a little better off for petrol and we still have some refining plants, but nothing like we used to have..
Ref Natural Gas reserves.. years ago underground storage was identified in the Southern Gas field area ( South of dogger bank ) the idea was to pump gas into the ground and use it as a holding stock in case of worldwide energy issues and price shocks.. did the government pursue this.. No.. only 18 months ago the idea has resurfaced.. too little too late yet again.
The UK politicians do not plan they only react.. its beyond terrible..
Fawley.

I wouldn't buy from those sites, my family been buying fuels from same guy for over 30 years when he moved companies we followed, not many independent suppliers left these days.
Rix Petroleum is the company he has been with for the last 15 years.

56 miles for me but that's no much at all in rural Scotland
Probably a lot more doable in your neck of the woods, and nothing out of a normal days routing.:-|
More likely they'd jib at our area.
If I go up the bank behind ours, I can see the former Shell refinery from here. (Spent many a shutdown shift in there behind a welding screen)

The price difference per litre when you buy 500 or 1500 is insignificant in Norfolk, it might amount to a £5 saving.
My tank is 1850ltr... I wish I had put in the largest I could... I was told to do that by a pal ..

A work pal called in yesterday... he runs three woodburners at times in his barn conversion, and has two banks of panels on his roof + battery storage... he hasn't purchased any oil for three years, the boiler is only on for an hour a day to do the hot water. And his electric bills are about £70 pcm.
(He wasn't smug at all)

Seems those of us in oil only rural areas will be "Left out in the cold", re fuel caps ... that simpering thing from accounts looks like she'll swerve anything like a gas & electricity cap for us. Even a V.A.T. break on Kero for heating would help a bit.

Regardless!, Trumps actions are as wildly un thought out in his applications, as those of a jellyfish brain in "Planning" and are in a seriously grey area of "Noo Noo Noo" X files context ... I agree Iran should be excoriated from this world, but not by some child with a grip on nuclear weapons, with no clear plan, FFS did he think he was playing with Lego????

Was a bit worried about the costs rising but luckily the government and Mr Starmer has stepped in to help thank god ! So my 600 quid delivery of 800 litres has risen to over 1300 quid for the same amount but we now can get 35 quid off ! Oh ..... hang on .... yes he's still a cock !

Ps if anyone voted Labour on here ! Your a **** 🙄 😀

Thank F&%* the Sun is breaking through a bit more regular, Solar panels are kicking in with a bit more gusto.
Where is this thing called the Sun? Out this morning and by 08 40 the snow was blowing horizontally across the fields.
And of course I had no where to shelter from it.
A tad damp.

Just a heads up for those with oil boilers, the price of kerosene has more than doubled since the orange moron decided to create a new war, meaning that kerosene is currently running at £1.32 / litre ex vat!!

I have broken out the emergency jumper stash and mandated only one shower a week until normality resumes!
id sooner have the orange moron than the fu*^&%$ idiot we have that you probably voted for :cuckoo:

What a ridiculous post!
Firstly, you have no idea who I voted for, and I’m not telling you as that is my business.
Secondly, the orange idiot is, has or is about to commit war crimes, including the killing of 150 children in a school - if that is ok with you than I do wonder about your fitness to own firearms!
