Helion XQ38f query - image quality grainy

I've had an XQ38 for about 3 years now and lately I've noticed the image gets vertical, grainy lines fairly quickly after calibration. It goes back to a nice smooth image after calibration but then the same thing happens after a few minutes. I've tried on both auto and manual calibration modes and don't recall it ever doing this when new. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have found this as well. I come to same conclusion as FISH BOY but if anyone can shed some more light on?

It's to do with the new feature on the last firmware. It sharpens the picture but does give vertical lines on screen with it on. Try switching that feature off and see then.

Image boost introduces some grain to the image as it increases sensitivity for sharper image contours, the mode works best in high contrast modes..

Saying that I prefer Rocks mode set to around 6-11 contrast for the best within image target detail ...although it you can increase contrast to give a similar image to the Forest and Identify mode but you lose some in target detail.

I’ve already turned off the image boost as I found it too grainy and an unnecessary feature. The issue is more that the image quality deteriorates quickly after calibrating. It’s fine initially but the vertical lines appear after a few mins.

ive never done a softwear update on mine coz i dont know how to, my picture is great ive had mine 16 months bs

Try closing the cap and changing calibrate to manual in the menu, then calibrate a few times like this. Then revert back to auto.

Just had a go at doing this and hasn’t made any difference I can notice. Saying that the weather atm isn’t the best for thermal but is there anything else you can recommend?
