Help/advice - I’m lost

Recently bought myself the tikka forend add on for my t3x lite 25-06.
(!wanted the stock the same as my varmint tikka 22-250)

After installation I noticed it fit so snug that when my Harris bipod was attached, it put pressure underneath and pinched the barrel all the way up both sides…. Easy fix , bit of wet and dry done the trick..
Didn’t even notice I done it but rubbed out the contact point about 2 inches from the action.

My tikka was shooting my home loads 3 shot groups that looked like one bullet hole.( a genuine tack driver ) with 100g bt and nosler accubond

Since my dreaded customising session , the gun don’t shoot the same .
I appreciate a bit of contact can change the harmonics , and maybe affect the load ….. so as irritating as it was , started load development again.

Struggled to get what I had previous, but narrowing down a load.

4 shot nearly touching - one ragged hole reading .390 inch groups . (Still not a single hole making me think I’d missed the paper with 3 )😂

But with these groups I seem to be getting a flyer every time , also always appears to be on the second shot!!
Then returns to make a group - on all groups the flyer seems to be about 1 inch away.

I’ve also checked the same load the day after with 2 - 4 shot groups ,( leaving to cool between)
Neither replicate what I had the day before .

I previously loaded my nosler 110 accubond with 52g reloader 19
And my 100 nosler bt with 52.5 reloader 19.
Both worked wonders.
Now I’ve dropped both loads down by 2 grains of powder and the barrel appears to like them similarly again with 1/2 inch between.

Checked again with the 100 bt - went all over the place .
I can’t seem to get consistency and when I do the second shot seems to be a flyer.

I have a t1x so swaps the stock over - and absolutely horrendous. So back in original stock which is now completely free floating.

Sat in the lug properly , torqued to tikka spec ( never used to do this, but tryed this as was trying to eliminate causes).
Tryed another scope
Checked and no contact from barrel to stock in any position .( had someone else run paper up the outside when I’m in positions

Can anyone shed any light?
I just want my gun back !!!!

Lost confidence in it now .

Thanks

Jamie

(Also appreciate if you actually read this through to the finish!!!!!)

Suppose you could try putting the contact oint back in with a bit of epoxy, see if that helps. if it improves things you’ll definitely know that’s the problem !

You can try to glue in the recoil lug as its loose in the stock. You got 1,4 inch groups not much of a problem.

Sounds like you’ve got a good shooting rifle there jacre

To be honest I would just go and get a new stock or at least get the original bedded by a gunsmith who knows his stuff

real shame that, accidents happen my friend, hope it gets sorted without too much money being spent

How much clearance is between barrel and stock?
Nothing to lose .
So Just in case - I’ve made more clearance.
Definitely does not touch now .

However , making me wonder whether under the quick hit of recoil, if the stock may touch in that fractional period of time??

I see on YouTube a lot of people on the other side of the water using resin and other materials to pour into the voids of synthetic forends to stiffen them up.

Tikka don’t put the block under the barrel in the wooden stock and appears that this is done in the synthetic stocks to give the stock more stability….
A guaranteed touch under the chamber I suppose is better than a potential one further down the barrel!

Anyway .. I’m digressing, has anyone else done this in a synthetic stock and any suggestions on product .

All recommendations in the YouTube videos are products that I can only find in America !

appreciate any help I can get!

Thanks

Plenty- have to try and force it to make it touch .
If you can get it to touch it is possibly not enough!
I've removed many barreled actions on so called floated barrels only to see shiny witness marks created during firing!
They all shot better once they had enough clearance.
