Hi i am looking for recommendations for my first night vision scope for foxes i was thinking of a Yukon RT or should i be looking at something else ?? any help appreciated

If you get a good used XT it will be cheaper and perform as well as an RT there is little in image quality between the two the RT does have lots of xtra features none of which will help you shoot any better, match your scope with a good infa red torch such as nightmaster 400/800 and it will work very well for normal foxing ranges I suppose it all depends what you want to spend but my XT works very well good luck.

Agreed, a used Photon XT 6.5x50 is good place to start with NV. There are a couple on E bay at the moment.
You will need an external IR illuminator because the one on the XT is pretty crap.
You'll get a good LED based illuminator for less than £100, but at the moment, the new generation of laser illuminators, outperform all the LED based illuminators.
I recently bought a Solaris SRX and it's significantly better than any of my many LED based illuminators, including sunnragers, T50s and even a T74

Got a 5x42 Photon ,plenty good enough for Foxes out to 100yds with the built in but with the nm800 you get a far better quality picture and range .Dont know about lasers but as the widest field i view is about 150yds its more than adequate.
Both items were 2nd hand all in 300 quid ,do i need wifi ,no,do i need electriktrickery no ,but i can see what eats Pheasants and it does the job atb

The Yukon RT is perfect for the job you describe, but so is the XT and at much less cost. I have both and the only advantage I can see the RT has over the XT is the built in ability to double magnification from x6 to x12. Yes it has more bells and whistles but none of these actually help you see the target. There is a degrading of the picture however at x12 as the double is digital and not optical. As others have said, a separate IR torch is a worth while addition especially on the XT.

Taken plenty of foxes with my 6x50 XT and F900 IR torch. As with any weapon mounted tech it’s not the best for scanning the ground though so use hand held thermal to spot (but the your budget would certainly take a hit!) and IR to shoot.

What ranges can you see clearly with this?

ive Picked up eyeshine at 400yrds+ with a T67 ir on my 6.5 photon and taken fox’s between 200-250 being able to clearly identify the quarry

Have a look at the rear add on unit from Pard, also known as the Addonight, Warden Adder and WG760. Needs external ir for foxing but, with the right scope, it’s a cracking bit of kit for £350.

I had a Yukon photon which for the money was very good. I only used it for ratting and a small bit of rabbit work. As others have said an additional ir illuminator is near essential as the light emitted from the on board ir gives the appearance of looking though an old bulls eye pain of glass.
i now have a ward d 800 s. It is leaps and bounds better than the photon but at twice the price it should be.
For me it came down to how useable it was. The photon is great but ties up a rifle for night vision completely. I found I would set up the photon for a rat shoot then get a call to cull some pigeons in a shop or warehouse where accuracy is paramount so would stick the day scope back on and have to re zero. The joy of the ward d 800 or any add on is if you need Nov on the air rifle one evening and centre fire the next you can just move it around and not have to worry about re zero etc
