Help with approximate muzzle velocity Please.

Hi,

Be grateful for the predicted muzzle velocity of a 7mm-08 load please from quick load.

Brass, new Lapua 7mm-08
Bullet 124gr Yew Tree, 7mm
Powder Charge 41.5gr N140
C.O.L 2.741"
Barrel 20"

I loaded a batch starting from 41.5gr with a 50 Thou jump up to 44gr. The start load or should I say, I shot the best group's 2x with the 41.5 gr load. Stopped at 43.0gr on the 1st test outting but verified the group was not a fluke. So have been using this load and none of the deer or foxes have laughed but most have been relatively close. Max about 160yds. Just wondered on what its approximate velocity is and if i'm way off its potential.

Don't you have any friends that own a chronograph?

Gordon's Reloading tool throws out very rough figures of 2667 ft/s. Barell rate of twist will play a part but you did not specify. It needs a lot more info to get close to accurate calculations..

Somewhere around 2,800-2,850fps at a guess. You’re at the bottom end of the N140 charge weights with 41.5.
