Hi Y'all,
Recently joined after stumbling on the forum whilst shopping around.
I've been shooting 20 odd years now, started hunting with rimfire, FAC air rifle and shotgun on my uncle's farm in South Wales. Did a long stint on the smallbore and fullbore competition scenes (no stranger to the clubhouses of Bisley!), and recently purchased my own tiny farm in West Wales. I spent 6 years running my university's club, but unfortunately with the decline in public opinions that city-center range is now long demolished (for a block of flats, no less) and the club is a shadow of it's former prestige.
I've previously had a interest in old service rifles, with a 303 Enfiled no.4 and a 1941 Mosin Nagant, used to meet up with a friend's Martini Henry 577, but I don't dabble in this space anymore.
I also spent a few years living in Texas, where I got stuck into the 3-gun competition scene and got experience with handgun, semi auto center fire, and all sorts of whacky toys. In Texas we hunted a few bucks, but the season was short, so instead we spent most of our time dealing with the environmental catastrophe caused by the feral hogs (a hybrid of Spanish pigs and the native boars that weigh 300-450lbs and can be aggressive). No fence in the world can withstand the buggers.
I'm SC and FAC. Our valley gets fallow and (I'm told) some roe deer, along with an abundance of foxes (but seemly almost 0 rabbits). I dream of creating a custom 6.5 Creedmore precision chassis when I win the lottery. My competition days are long behind me as I can't hit the range 3 times a week like I could in my 20's thanks to being rural and destitute by the wife and kid!
